I don't know, stupid? On average, you would find that European immigrants integrate faster, and that isn't just because Denmark (or whatever) is a racist hellhole or something. If you want a date, let's just say around the time frame 0-2000 AD. For the record I don't agree with Ragekipz at all. Immigrants from the middle east aren't doing a bad job, there's just more of a cultural gap to bridge, and we should work together to accommodate that.

European integration has been marching steadily on since the end of WWII.

The idea of a United Europe is nothing new from a modern historical perspective. And then there's of course the whole integration idea behind the very existence of the European Union and the Council of Europe. Really comes down to what Europeans want for themselves; what they want their society to be like, what they want their laws to be like, what expectations they have of non-native immigrants, etc.-- and it's up to them to enforce what they decide they want. Either you fit the standards they designate or you don't. If you do, you're European; if you don't, then you're not European and you don't belong. It works this same way in any country, group, whatever. Anywhere where laws and ideologies (religious, political, etc.) exist.

Culturally? There was the Roman Empire, then The Church now the EU.

The majority of White people here in the States are actually descended from German immigrants who, like everyone else, had negative stereotypes when they got here and had trouble with certain things. The unfortunate thing about Africans and Arabs, however, is that they [I]look[/I] different, which may cause their integration to be less smooth than our Germans. Hell, Nordic people are the most dominant group of White people here in Minnesota, but they still had racial slurs like "squareheads" thrown at them when they first got here.
