Yes mister American please tell us more about how European countries with centuries of royal history should reject an important harmless aspect of their culture, I'm sure your culture's numerous experiences with monarchy will give us perfect guidelines as to how to conduct ourselves in front of a royal family.
Because clearly, I as an American am not capable of understanding the concept of monarchy or knowing the history of Europe. :v:
Anyway, I don't recall ever hearing anything about them being bad people soooo yeah, congrats to them I suppose. Not really one to give a huge shit about the affairs of royals like other Americans for some bizarre reason, but hey, babies are a happy thing.
Fuck these weirdos. Who cares other than they are heads of state by default? It's a dumb system that should not only be ignored, by rejected.
Ya fuck the monarchs!
But I'm already anxious about what they'll name it and ready to buy my commemorative merch.
nobody really cares in the UK tbh. it's mostly other countries which I find pretty funny
Anyone remember people raging about calling the first born a boy?

Because their knees aren't soggy over their victory against the patriarchy.

The monarchy is a symbol of British culture and heritage and an emblem of national unity.
If you expect for Europeans to respect the American penchant for Lady Liberty, bald eagles and pontification about 'freedom and liberty,' then you should respect the symbolic value of the remaining European monarchies.

1. I don't know why foreigners would or should respect the national symbols of other countries.
2. Lady Liberty stands for freedom. What does the monarchy stand for? Dictatorship? Theocracy? Absolutism? Great traits, that's exactly what I want to be an integral part of my nation's government and a national symbol.

Let's get on with our lives.
God, I wish Australia had the gall to do what the United States did in 1776 -- I'm going to be listening to irrelevant news about this for the next month or so..
Abbott is going to have a great monarchy wank tonight.
Name's just been announced - Princess Garry
Who was the FP guy hiding in his pool when the last kid was born to try to avoid hearing about it and one of his neighbors jumped his fence to tell him about it?

She's been named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
[editline]4th May 2015[/editline]
Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.
And who is not surprised that they managed to fit the word Diana into the name?

Last time I checked, the UK wasn't a dictatorship or a theocracy.

Do you like, not understand that the queen or whatever can't just say "Red cars are banned forever" and then red cars are banned, no questions asked, until that law is removed, right? It's a functioning democratic government with an outdated figurehead, and your ideas about the UK are hilariously ignorant.
The most annoying thing about any royal news is people from other countries thinking it's great. I couldn't care less about another person that's being held above everybody else due to old fashioned bullshit. You all seem to say that it's culturally important and that we should be proud of our heritage, but it's a tradition of extreme classism; it's nothing to be proud of.
Maybe it's because I'm a northerner who knows all too well that my life and the lives of those around me will always be controlled by the rich elite from down south, but I hate the monarchy, even if it is 'harmless'.
Dumb Explosions all you want for being maybe a little too brash about it, but he's absolutely right when he says that it's a dumb system that should be ignored and rejected.
You do realise we can't just topple the monarchy just like that more so than you can remove the president.
Besides the Westminster system has effectively neutered the monarchy, all the Queen does is sign off on every piece of legislation and if she doesn't it will cause a constitutional crisis.
He's not head of state by default lmao
we elected him.

When did I say or imply that the monarchy holds any real power in the UK? It does not. We were talking about national symbols and what they embody. What does the monarchy stand for as a national symbol?

There's no real point in debating this as it is entirely subjective.
The British monarchy represents: A) Britain's long history and traditions, B) An out-dated class system, C) Despotic Monarchy
POTUS represents: A) America's republican traditions, B) An electoral system paralysed by gridlock, C) Scandal and corruption
No point even assessing what symbols embody as people see what they want to see.

It stands for when the UK was at its peak of power and influence over the world and shined as a cultural and economical hub across the world.
