Fasting is dangerous. Don't do it except for medical reasons with a doctor's permission.
Atleast here in past christian celebrations had fasting, but from what i know it wasn't fasting just for the sake of it but because long winter before easter had depleted food storages. It has not been done here for century or more though.
There's shitloads of muslims working at Burger King over here, totally going to order a fuckload of tasty things AGAIN.
Their fucking faces cramping up as they serve me my fries and burgers is the best.

Mate wouldn't want that fedora around your head to be so tight you cut blood circulation to the brain to make a ridiculous post like this

Sorry I only wear Berets and urban camo pants.
Seriously though, I don't understand why they work in those places anyway.. they sell bacon on their burgers.. and in times like these I don't think ANY self respecting muslim would enjoy serving big fat sloppy burgers.

Intermittent fasting has been proven to have beneficial effects both in mice and human beings.

I can't tell if you're anti-religious or just a sociopath
Add the fact that they eat the most delicious things before sunrise and I wouldn't have too many difficulties with it myself.

Woops hell no.
Half of the people I know are muslim, I just enjoy messing around with some folks.
I once (accidentally he asked for it I promise) gave a bacon crisp to one of my mates and I felt really bad about it :c

The average Muslim will bend the rules if they have to for the sake of employment, not all of them are totally uptight about the rules regarding their religious restrictions.
What if you live in the north where the sun doesn't set at all, or sets only for a few hours?
What if you live in the north where the sun doesn't set at all, or sets only for a few hours?
It's based on clock timings, so you open your fast when the sun is suppose to set where Muslims normally live.
i dunno how to fit my exercise plan with fasting so i'm gonna have to drop it and pick it back up in august
[editline]28th June 2014[/editline]
and i'll probably just not eat a lot during community iftars which sucks b/c people make some really good food
Uhh, you shouldn't have to fit your exercise plan around fasting? Just do your shit/working out during the day and then eat when you can eat. It's pretty much just doing intermittent fasting, it's not like you need a different exercise plan.
i remember one time in year 9 i changed "ramadan" on wikipedia to "ramadamadan" and it was 3 days before someone found out
It's based on clock timings, so you open your fast when the sun is suppose to set where Muslims normally live.
Sunrise to sunset, based on where you are. Not "where Muslims normally live" lol. Islam is a religion that spans multiple timezones.

I've been told its ok to use the clock to get an idea where the sun is suppose to set if you manage to find yourself in one of those timezones so IDK, it's not really a rule that was considered.

Ramadan is just not eating when the sun is up.
Most people seem to stuff themselves as soon as it sets.
Might be kind of annoying for Muslims up here though, since the sunrise is around 5am and the sunset around 10:30pm. Pretty awkward for anyone who works early.
Remember: Lent is almost the same thing. Originally you would give up eating after sunrise/before sunset for 40 days. Ramadan is 30.
Fucking Ramadhan ruined my date with a girl.
I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR THIS ISLAM

I live in a majority Christian country but I have never heard of Lent in my entire life
I live in a majority Christian country but I have never heard of Lent in my entire life
It's now more "Give up something for 40 days". Some Catholics give up meats for the period.
Lent is traditionally described as lasting for forty days, in commemoration of the forty days which, according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus spent, before beginning his public ministry, fasting in the desert, where he endured temptation by the Devil. In most of the West, it begins on Ash Wednesday. Different Christian denominations calculate its length differently.

I'm not fasting but i may get beat up&knifed if i try to eat outside
You live in the singular most secular nation in the Muslim world.
What.
What if you live in the north where the sun doesn't set at all, or sets only for a few hours?
You fast according to the nearest Islamic country to you (hours), same applies to countries with 20 hours of sun and whatnot.

I thought Turkey forbade the practice of religion in public? Or did they change that?

do you practice making posts full of misinformation or does it come naturally
During this month, Muslim believers abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and having sex from dawn until sunset.
i never looked into ramadan much, but like can't you just eat at night and wake up early and eat before the sun goes up?
kind of a retarded restriction though if thats true.

you can eat till the morning call to prayer...so yeah you can sleep and wake up early to eat whatever you want
I'm still really confused about the whole "you're fine after the sun sets" thing.
God doesn't have night vision? He created the fucking universe, but can't see during night?
Would explain why all kinds of stuff is so fucked up, he probably created all that stuff before creating light.

it's not that. obv if you dont eat for an entire month you can die! fasting is for remembrance that the quran was revealed in the month of ramadan, and to make fasting easier you are allowed to eat during the night
I hate myself during this period. Cause I might hangout with my muslim friends, and then drink in front of em, then remembered that its ramadan and they can't eat or drink till sun down.
They can.
They choose not to.
