Basically, "whatever is later in the book is what you listen to". The second to last chapter in the Qu'ran is full of the most violent, discriminative and intolerant verses in the whole book, therefore they are the verses which the Qu'ran itself tells you to listen to. The verse on abbregation itself may be open to interpretation but honestly I think it's pretty damn clear.
