British Destroyer vs Carrier group? If they hypothetically decided to battle it out, that destroyer would be torn to bits within minutes. Not sure if deterrence or fishing boat.
We will summon the British rain god and drown the commies
It's funny how Russia thinks they can do stuff like this, but gets all pissed off about a missile defence system.

They're taking shelter from bad weather in international waters
On the other hand the missile shield is a real political and military threat which is upsetting the careful balance of power that has been in place since ICBMs were invented

1.) They are in international waters
2.) The course is through the GUIK gap in order to go to the Atlantic.
Wow, it's not even close to Britain's territorial waters. Why anyone would make a stink over this is anyone's guess.
I think we should have showed our support for the Syrian government, and then Russia would have supported the other side and do the whole Lybia thing for us.
What is actually supposed to be drawn up by this article relates to the recent SDSR (Strategic Defence and Security Review) cuts, specifically relating to the Royal Air forces Maratime Patrol Program, commonly known and associated with the Nimrod MR2 aircraft. It may have passed by some, but Britain's main flagstone in MPA was the Nimrod thanks to its capabilities for an early 60's aircraft (Though the newer Nimrod MRA4's were actually a brand new fuselage) to be able to fly extended patrols in British and International waters in both Search and Rescue and Maratime Patrol Missions.
However, when the SDSR was enacted all three arms of the armed forces were given extreme cuts to meet a new budget. With this the Nimrod MRA4, the Nimrod MR2's long awaited replacement was scrapped even after it had had over £789 million spent in its inflated budget. This, tied with the retirement of the MR2's as part of the SDSR left the UK with no Maratime Patrol Aircraft.
So the article is highlighting, that a Russian Carrier group was able to slip in to "...30 miles (48km) off the Moray Firth on Monday..." with no-one noticing it had strayed so close into Britain's economical waters until it was too late. And the best part? We had nothing to send except for a single Type-42 Destroyer that had to be sent from Portsmouth to intercept and monitor it.

Syria: Unknown Snipers Rebuffed
For the last few months I have written a dozen of times about the snipers from western intelligence services killing innocent people at anti-government meetings in Arab countries. The killed people are all reported to be “the victims of the police and the Army”. To provoke revolution and chaos.
The situation in Syria is complex and highly explosive. However, it seems to be over the hump. Why? The reason is that the Syrian people have realized what’s been going on.
Now they see THEM. And maybe it’s due to our efforts, my dear readers.

This is how the situation has been developing:
April, 3, 2011. “ The participants of the Friday disorders in Syria that cost more than 10 lives are being arrested. About 50 people have been detained so far. The official Damascus has already dissociated itself from the shooting at the mass demonstration. According to its data the casualties include not only innocent people but also police officers. The Syrian TV channels reported, on Friday it were unknown motorcyclists who opened fire on the anti-government demonstration participants. And the snipers up from the roofs.”
April, 4, 2011. “The USA calls on the Americans in Syria to evaluate the necessity to stay in the country – and if it is possible to leave the state due to the current political instability. The State Department says that the US citizens should be prepared for provocations on the part of the Syrian authorities, to escape espionage charges and arrests.”
It is evident that there is no presence of the Westin Syria. And its authorities should grab innocent US citizens. Then comes the question: who and with what kind of weapons keeps attacking the Army convoys? Could it possibly be the “brought to despair” demonstrators with stones in their hands?
April, 11, 2011. “The government news agency SANA is reporting that an Army convoy on the highway Lattakia-Tartus has experienced an attack from an unknown armed group. 7 soldiers and 2 officers are reported among the casualties. In the town of Daria on the Jordan border 19 soldiers and policemen were killed.
April, 11, 2011. “The Syrian Army is holding a ground operation against armed extremists in the port town of Banyas. According to the Russian State channel “VESTI” the militants are mounting fierce resistance. Lebanon TV reports there are tens of wounded and killed. There is no clear picture what is really happening 260 km to the North-West of Damascus on the Mediterranean coast, says ITAR TASS.
According the medical sources the town hospital received 32 people, only 4 of them innocent people who had happened to find themselves in the area of shooting. In Banyas tanks have been deployed around the oil-processing plant to prevent possible attempts to capture this economically important object. The rebel Islamists right from the morning started erecting barricades in the way of the government forces preventing disorders, the human rights representatives reported earlier. They say Banyas and the neighboring towns have been blocked by the Army troops, the mobile and stationary telephone connection switched off.
Tanks are normally brought into town if it is not otherwise possible to take it under control. That means the Army troops and the police are not coping well.
Do you still think it is the demonstrators with stones and slogans? Or something or somebody more serious?
April, 14, 2011. “The sources in the Lebanon Security Service report that a weapon-carrying convoy has been captured on the Syrian boarder. Lebanon boarder patrol has stopped 2 caravans full of weapons. According to the Lebanon Security service data in the vehicles there were Kalashnikov guns, machine guns and bombs.
April, 15, 2011 – another Syrian success. Again on the boarder. A peaceful refrigerated lorry from Iraq, from the provinces held by the curds, was full of weapons. Armament, munitions, automatic weapons, equipment. An what is most important – sniper rifles of various types. This information appeared on the Syrian and other Arabic TV channels. In Russian media world I did not come across this info. Here is a TV shootage from Syria
You can watch it (first, an interview with a boarder officer, so you may watch from 2 min 30 sec and forth)
And now some different information.
As soon as the “unknown snipers” started their murderous work in Syria I began looking for an opportunity to TELL ABOUT what’s going on.
One of the opportunities was my acquaintances’ journey to Syria. They planned to arrange a meeting with the representatives of Syrian security agencies. They promised to give them information and warn that they should pay special attention to the roofs around the square with the demonstrators.
On March, 18 one of my readers made a video about “Unknown snipers” in English ( http://nstarikov.ru/blog/8726). My readers started to publish it in the Internet. It all happened at the time when chaos in Syria was just being initiated. I sent this video to my colleagues from Russia Today (the Arabic branch). And they provided the video with a running subtitle. Later it was uploaded to the “RT” forum.
It is important to say that “Russia Today” has now a multimillion audience in the Arabic countries. And the interest to the Russian channel keeps growing. The video about the snipers was actively discussed and commented.
One of the “RT” journalists wrote an article for the newspaper “The Moscow News” in Arabic, where he told my story about the “unknown snipers” being not an accident, but a system of stirring up and destabilizing situation in many countries in a row.
This article was immediately printed by Al Baas, the voice of the ruling Syrian party “BAAS” http://www.albaath.news.sy/user/?id=1112&a=98806
And it SUDDENLY opened the eyes for Syria. The Syrian TV started circulating videos where the unknown sniper are specifically shown and are ringed with red color. You can clearly see people in civilian clothes with rifles and even machine guns.
Watch video 1
Watch video 2
These videos are being demonstrated on Syrian TV day and night so that people could see who keeps killing them in reality. Russian state channels did not demonstrate these videos.
The Syrian security service started “taking off” snipers from the roofs and discover containers with arms. They haven’t “taken off” all of them and discovered everything. But the direction is right.
Syria also has the latest “know-hows” of CIA and MI6. They aren’t snipers, they aren’t professionals. They are the local scum who are given guns and automatic rifles. And hired to shoot demonstrators. The demonstration is in progress. These bastards are hiding in the bushes. Their victims will be presented to the world community as “victims of the regime”. Here is a Syrian TV coverage showing in detail the mechanism of the provocation.
Who are these people? It is hard to say. I will just give you some numbers: the population of Syria is about 25 mln people. Including 1.5 – 2 mln of Iraqi refugees and about 600 thousand of Palestinians. Plenty of outcasts to choose from.
If we manage to save at least one life – it means that our efforts weren’t vain. If the “revolution” in Syria doesn’t succeed that means that these guys will show up here in Russia a little bit later.
A video about “unknown snipers” in French can also be very useful.
Why in French? Because if the Anglo-Saxon gang doesn’t succeed in Syria they will move forward. This time to Algeria.
April, 18, 2011 “20 State Army servicemen have fallen victim and 17 have been injured as a result of clashes between the regular Army and assaults from armed militants or gunmen, the local newspapers said April, 17”.
There have already been attempts in January-February, 2011 “In January the price rises for products and other problems aroused disorders in some provinces of the country. As a result of the clashes several people died, more than 800 policemen, gendarmes and demonstrators have received injuries, more than 1300 people have been detained. On 12 and 19 February an alliance “National Coordination for Change and Democracy” has organized demonstrations that proceeded without registered serious acts of violence.”
Spread the truth. It can help save people.
