just my 2 cents but my interest for attack on titan has fallen like a rock because the show has only been out for a short while and they put in so much filler that sometimes an entire episode goes by with not a single plot point advancing

I started reading the manga when the PV for the anime came out (looked badass, yknow!?!?)
Everything was cool for the first 20ish chapters, but it just felt so slow. The mangaka managed to take an extremely tense and potentially action-filled situation and bore me to death. If the pacing was better, I might have bothered to finish it.

I mean of course there are similarities. Conspiracy, corrupt governments, forces attacking humanity beyond humanity's ability to fight.
But beyond that they deal with completely different issues. Evangelion was about dealing with depression and emotional isolation, AOT is about the nature of power and how violence and war can change people into monsters(literally, see, get it it's called symbolism)

They drag out fucking everything. It's like it's mandated that at least half of an episode must have one or more characters standing around wide eyed with a shocked look on their face. Frankly, it's boring and seriously borders on DBZ levels of scene stretching.

and eva wasn't just about that. the nature of power and violence were also explored in eva to a greater effect than aot imo through its exploration of sadism and the drive towards death explored using anti-social themes

okay look here's the thing
I totally understand and in a lot of cases agree with the complaints about the pacing of the show. It's by no means perfect, but I enjoy it regardless since I think those problems are outweighed by some fucking amazing animation and a killer OST.
But the ultimate point here, and let's not forget this, is that no matter how poorly paced you think it is it is orders of magnitude better than fucking "my little sister can't be this cute".
