I heard in Japan being an otaku basically makes people think of you as a huge fucking weirdo, and part of the reason they're marketing anime so much in the states is because nobody likes that shit over there. Don't take my word though, I'm the farthest thing from a weeaboo I don't know jack shit about Asian culture
