Guys, stop derailng the thread please.
Also I just realized, the thing specifically points out :Happy End, if the reference to a massage 'happy ending' wasn't enough. What the hell is the bad ending? Does she like flip out, smack you and call you a creep before getting a restraining order and you live the rest of your life alone? Seriously, if the good ending is implied incest, the fuck is the bad ending? You kill her during the sex?

No, she goes back to America.
No, she goes back to America.
That's the bad ending!?
That's the bad ending!?
anything involving america, land of the gaijin, is nothing but ultra terrible
That's the bad ending!?
Affirmative. That would mean Kyousuke loses her forever.
Affirmative. That would mean Kyousuke loses her forever.
until he has a meltdown and cries and runs over to america to fetch her so that he can continue to visualize his fuck fantasies in the comfort of his home
like a creepy creepy creeping creeper
Affirmative. That would mean Kyousuke loses her forever.
THEY'RE RELATED. HE COULD JUST FUCKING VISIT HER.

He already did that once. I can't imagine that happening again.
THEY'RE RELATED. HE COULD JUST FUCKING VISIT HER.
It's not the same as having someone close to you all the time.
THEY'RE RELATED. HE COULD JUST FUCKING VISIT HER.
do you understand why I think this story is only half a shade away from Perfect Blue and the only reason it isn't a horror story is because the author is functionally retarded
do you understand why I think this story is only half a shade away from Perfect Blue and the only reason it isn't a horror story is because the author is functionally retarded
Functionally retarded? He barely squeezed his two brain cells for this.
Functionally retarded? He barely squeezed his two brain cells for this.
Just because the story wasn't your cup of tea doesn't mean that the person who wrote it didn't do a good job at it. This is a highly popular series that started out as a light novel, he did something right.
THEY'RE RELATED. HE COULD JUST FUCKING VISIT HER.
Before the retarded incest ending became reality, the point was that Kyousuke & Kirino were slowly repairing their very strained relationship. If Kirino went to the States, it could destroy everything they worked on. Yeah he could visit her but it wouldn't be the same - that's how Kyousuke saw it anyway. He'd be losing her again, to the US instead of Middle School. They were very close prior to the start of the series.
you know there's another story about sister fucking called Koi Kaze
in it they're ostracized by their entire social network and are turned into societal lepers who are irredeemable in the eyes of anyone including their friends, family, work and school systems. They contemplate suicide and end up running off in a euphoric haze, accosting children and drinking cups of sand.
It's not a perfect show by any means but it's as close as you'll get to an accurate representation of an incestuous relationship. At least in anime I guess I don't know maybe the French made a movie that's better but they're weird like that
you know there's another story about sister fucking called Koi Kaze
But, that's not what Oreimo's story is about, at all.
That's still an atrocious ending that makes little logical sense.
Leaving might have solidified the repairs. "I now like that cousin who I didn't like before, I had a good time. I should go see him again." EVERYONE WINS.

Boy, I'll tell you h'what. I've read my fair share of trashy crap, and I've seen my bit of harem anime. Oreimo is a conglomeration of every other harem show ever goddamn made, trope characters and stock plotlines intact.
The only X factor that Oreimo has, the only outstanding quality, is that it is also show about how being an otaku is okay so long as you maintain healthy social relationships and have a strong work ethic. A point which is hilariously demolished the moment it becomes a story about incest. That's probably part of the reason you had people burning the last issue of the LN when it came out.
dude spoilers
spoiler tag dat shit.
So Oreimo really goes down hill after the first season. Good to know. Thanks thread.
But, that's not what Oreimo's story is about, at all.
It really, really is.
He goes through the laundry list of side characters to have relationships with so that he can finally end up with his one true love. It's as stock as stock can get.

but duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuddddddeeeee, I didn't want to know.
Gotta look at it from a Japanese perspective, man. The Kousakas are pretty much the standard family unit; traditional father who rules the roost, subservient mother, hardworking typical son and younger typical daughter. Kirino starts going "fuck that" & slowly drifts away from Kyousuke & the father, takes up modelling and becomes an otaku (in secret) which angers the father, though Kyousuke doesn't agree with the father in that regard either. She shuts Kyousuke out and blanks him for ages. All Kyousuke wants is to mend that relationship, and restore some stability to the family.
Now if it had stayed at that it would've been great, but NOPE INCEST ENDING

if that was the tack he was going to take i would have prefered if it turned into Flowers of Evil
I am now out of the loop. Yay.
All Systems Nominal again.

It's not only Kyousuke that wanted to repair the relationship. Kirino only wanted her big brother back that she once had. The kiss at the end is hardly something I would call incest. What happens after that point is totally left to your imagination.

it really isn't
it really, really, really isn't
I know I've chatted up post structuralism, but it doesn't help that the author also says the only reason it wasn't straight, unaltered, vanilla, in your face incest was because the network wouldn't let him do it

When you put it like that, it actually seems like a decent show up until the incest part.
Really?
who here has actually read the last issue of the LN
It's some crazy shit, let me tell you
