In Moenovel's case, one of recent novels they released was completely butchered and all explicit content was removed, as if a family was going to sit down every evening and play a romance-VN together. It was also poorly translated and a lot of the dialogue was butchered pretty badly, on top of plenty of spelling and grammatical errors. honestly I'll just stick with fan groups who release localization patches.

Wind Waker's original Japanese version was also slightly different than the American version which was slightly more streamlined and obviously there were a lot of parts in Wind Waker as a whole that weren't that good. Hideki Kamiya actually came out and said he hated Wind Waker and wouldn't pick up the HD version regardless of how they fixed it. It's how long the game stays on the charts that tells you the full story. It's quite easy for a game to get on the charts, especially if the game just came out during a slow sales week.
