I heard years ago that Zelda is allot more popular in Western countries than in Japan, is this true?
Quite a few of Nintendo's successful IPs are like that. For some reason it tends to be way harder for game devs to get Japanese consumers into things they aren't already interested in than it is with Korean and Western consumers.
why does everyone like this anime about a creepy weirdo who commits social suicide so that he can fuck his overbearing emotionally unstable younger sister
Well it used to be a funny show about a brother helping his perverted little sister out, but then the author went full retard and [sp]gave it a shitty incest ending[/sp] and p much ruined the series.

That would be better than how the show actually ended.

Based on what I've seen, I've gotten the impression that the characters' incestuous feelings were initially presented in an almost Freudian manner: two siblings grew up in an unhealthy environment and developed unhealthy lifestyles as a result. But at some point this was thrown out the window in favor of "it's true love!".
Mind you this is based entirely off of seeing discussions about it in derailed threads so I could be completely off.

thats how the ln ended too cause the publisher wasn't gonna take any of Fushimi's incest bullshit, so he gave it that half assed ending.

I feel like your definition of "funny" is my definition of "awkward."

I've heard that it ditched that too at the end and the siblings end up being siblings again.
the editors forced that ending
the editors forced that ending
So the original intended ending was that they end up as lovers right?
yeah
Heh, I was expecting to see the editors do a little switch-a-roo and reveal that the sister was actually adopted or something.
yeah
I've heard that the writer still insists that that's the "true" ending.

yep
[editline]7th October 2013[/editline]
death threats tho
I feel like your definition of "funny" is my definition of "awkward."
yeah it's awkward as fuck, certainly not the show you would watch with a sibling.
I'm more surprised that a Vita game is #2
What with all the visual novels and jrpgs released for that thing I wouldn't call it surprising.
Until I read that Zelda games have progressively been selling worse in Japan, I was all ready to theorize the poor sales to the fact that its a remake of a game probably everyone that would be interested in it has already with barely anything new. Granted, I haven't played or even been interested in a Zelda game since Link To The Past, but its still kind of a bummer.
Not gonna lie I was enjoying the awkward fun the anime haduntil the goddamn sister ending.
Well, on the bright side, Namco is also developing SSB4 on the WiiU, so hopefully that one will outsell Wind Waker HD too.
Shouldn't be too hard considering like 12 people on the planet own a WiiU and at least 10 of them are already excited for it.

what did you people expect
it's called "my little sister can't be this cute" and it's about a fucking cosplaying orange haired loli who's sole defining trait is that she's into brother/sister porn dating simulators
that ending couldn't have been more clearly telegraphed if the title of the story was "THE BROTHER AND THE SISTER WANT TO FUCK"
Well it's a Remake, if it was a new Zelda game it would most likely be on top.
Didn't skyward sword sell rather terribly because no-one really cared about it
Didn't skyward sword sell rather terribly because no-one really cared about it
Because people honestly just want Majora's Mask 2 at this point since it was the only zelda game that had mature themes.

what about twilight princess that had like swords and lots of grey and stuff
that's mature right
Motion controls didn't help.
A zelda game with motion controls as tight as the ones in Nintendoland would be fucking amazing.
Even though the focus of the whole anime was the sister, I would still prefer the first love interest from the first season. Sure it was awkward, and so. The love interest to me, was a much better character then the sister, but they scratched that(in the second season, basically retconning it).

That's part of it.
It was a GameCube game from the start which was then ported to the Wii. It had quite a few restrictions and "gimmicks" that held it back.
From what I've been hearing from fans of the series(or at least bigger fans than me), it's not even that good of an Oreimo game.
Wind Waker the Port didn't just lose to a harem sitcom game, it lost to a disappointing sequel that people didn't even like that much.
That's like having your Summer blockbuster remake lose to a movie based on some obscure graphic novel... or bringing it over here and having it lose to a quirky Pokemon spinoff game.

You mean Ruri? The shitstorm her loss caused was fucking golden and justified the existence of the series.
