Trump Just Dismissed the People in Charge of Maintaining Our Nuclear Arsenal

This is kinda scary actually when you think about why he would be prioritizing the replacement of those in this specific role.
Accepting the mandatory resignations of political appointees is the standard way when there is a new president, even if from the same party .Obama was also planning to oust the majority of appointees in the scenario of a Clinton win, each president has list of people who he/she prefers to work with.
What makes this procedure somewhat extraordinary is that Trump made this a universal policy, denying extensions from anybody (at least thats how it seems as of now) and given a short notice.
The NNSA is also special because the current administrator was appointed by Bush, and Obama extended him since.
Makes sense. I was under the assumption keeping the people who have experience would have been the better bet, but it is understandable to want people you can easily work with.

" i never specifically said i promise "
" things happened "
After watching this, I'm actually worried how those nuclear arsenals are handled right now.

The first thing you should do is stop getting your news from far left comedy shows.

How is it far left? Are you referring to their tendency to call Republicans out for the stupid shit they pull all the time? Seems to be a fairly moderate show to me.
Last Week Tonight is only funny sometimes but it's really not a far left show. Unless Jon Oliver has been advocating for the proletariat to seize the means of production when I wasn't looking.

I like how people attach the label "far left" to everything they disagree without providing any constructive arguments.

Information being distributed in a comedic way does not invalidate the information.
i like to believe that any change is for the best. sometimes i am wrong, sometimes not really. i guess we just have to see.

That's a... pretty troublingly openminded statement. The New York City skyline changed the morning of September 11th, 2001, for example, and let me tell you, it was definitely not for the best.
I'm assuming you mean something more specific, given where you're posting from?
Good god watching John Oliver is awful. A robot would be funnier.
Informative though in this particular video. Those silos don't look very serious for what they are. All they have to do is cut out all the unfunny British man bits in-between the interesting stuff.
Information being distributed in a comedic way does not invalidate the information.
No, but incomplete or cherry-picked information might as well be misinformation, and the primary function of Last Week Tonight is to entertain, not educate. I can't comment on the nuclear video in particular, but LWT in general is not an unbiased, factually complete documentary on the subjects it discusses, and comedy is not a good substitute for research.

well there are 2 different perspectives on that. Have you seen documentaries about 9/11. I have, and america actually woke up after that. listening to interviews, it would take nearly and hour or longer to reach defence minister or something in order to get fighter jet in air... a freaking hour.
Well i guess this decision could have to do with Trump wanting to expanding the US nuclear capability.
Which would be good news because most US nuclear weapon systems are aging and they need improving or to be flat out replaced.

john oliver is a disgrace to real liberalism

he's closer to trump than any person advocating socialist views

he makes fairly weak points overall though for comedy
far left
ahahahahaha
"stop worrying about trump you nerds lol nothing bad could come out of this stop being sore losers lmao"
Where are the fucking retards who kept spewing this kind of shit when people raised their concerns after the election results came in? Are they finally starting to realize that the victory of anime daddy or whatever isn't hilarious because "memes and fuck SJWs xD", and that this shit will affect everyone, not just extremist leftists on Tumblr that are apparently the greatest threat to the civilized world ever
So the obvious angle here is that Trump is trying to cripple the US nuclear arsenal so that we can't retaliate if Russia nukes us.
That's almost certainly not the intention, but it's "fun" to think about.

Well not exactly.
But to cripple the U.S. nuclear-shield to negate mutually agreed destruction.
The first thing you should do is stop getting your news from far left comedy shows.
what exactly do you know about the "far left"?
Given the correction issued in the source article:
Correction, 1/9/17, 11:03 p.m., : Another NNSA official, speaking on background to Gizmodo and Defense News, has disputed this report as “inaccurate” while confirming that “there have been no discussions between the president-elect’s transition team and any of NNSA’s political appointees on extending their public service past Jan. 20.” In other words, the Trump transition team has not asked the top two NNSA officials to stay on until they can be replaced.
After speaking to our source for clarification, we have updated the story and headline to reflect that, while Klotz and Creedon have submitted their resignations, intend to depart on January 20, and have not been asked by the Trump transition to stay past that date, the Trump team has not explicitly instructed them to leave or “clean out their desks,” as we reported. According to our source, both officials “have expressed [to the Trump team] that they would likely be willing to stay to facilitate a smooth transition, if asked,” as is the tradition for key officials, and have received no response.
Their goodbye party is scheduled for next Thursday.
It can be safely said that this story was a giant pile of alarmist garbage and a waste of all our time. Granted, it probably wasn't a good idea to listen to Gawker (I'm sorry, "Gizmodo") of all sites in the first place, but at least there's concrete evidence that it was a pile of crap now.

Gizmodo, the "Gadget Guide" that talks a whole lot about politics instead.....

is this guy the liberal equivalent of Fox News-style fear mongering?
is this guy the liberal equivalent of Fox News-style fear mongering?
No, he's a guy running a comedy show who tries a little too hard to be Stephen Colbert. He's not really all that funny a lot of the time because he tries way too hard, but some of his stuff is okay.
How is it far left? Are you referring to their tendency to call Republicans out for the stupid shit they pull all the time? Seems to be a fairly moderate show to me.
I agree it's not far left but it is near constant liberal pandering, it's pretty much like an internet circle jerk. Like at least news stations are at least sometimes impartial.

Comedy shows don't need to be impartial. Because they're comedy shows.

the comment I was quoting said the show was moderate, my post showed it is not. Also there are tons of young people who get their news only from shows like John Oliver, which the main point of sgman91's post, but instead people changed the subject into "how is John Oliver far left???!!"

The text does not support your interpretation.
Update: The NNSA administrator was asked to remain.
