antarctic conditions you got there ionutt
Remember: Global warming is real in the summer. A joke in the winter.
The reason why it's more accurately called climate change is that even though average temperatures will increase by a few degrees Celsius, the difference and relief between winter and summer will increase dramatically. The winter months will become much colder, and the summer a good deal warmer, while spring and fall will shorten. This is all very oversimplified, of course.
A stupid comment made by an angered politician who is not so hot on the PR front. Doesn't make climate change any less real.
Ha ha, wow, I gotta write that one down.
I agree with this guy, he knows how to insult people properly. We need more of this in the Senate.
So this is what I get for believing differently after studying the evidence. :colbert: I'm telling you, this has become a bloody religion. I'm differing from the UN by the fact that I don't change the evidence, and therefor have gotten a different result.
He sounds like an asshole
Well, Venus has loads of carbon dioxide in it's atmosphere as there is no natural way for the planet to process it, unlike the carbon cycle on earth. It's also covered in volcanoes, has no magnetic field to stop cosmic radition and an atmospheric pressure 92 times greater than Earth's at ground level. Comparing the two planets is pretty silly. Mind you, it's also pretty silly for someone in the UN to tell the people they're trying to presuade to rub their faces with asbestos.
Yeah reacting like that to skepticism is not the way to prove your point. [editline]03:52PM[/editline]
Someone who thinks global warming is real said a dumb thing, ergo, global warming isn't real!
Nobody said that. You're acting just like this moron. Every time you flip out and say dumb shit when challenged it reduces your credibility that much more. God forbid we act like adults when someone displays a reasonable about of skepticism. No no we can't refute claims and prove hypotheses using evidence and logic fuck no go rub your dick in asbestos.
Good. Global warming skeptics ARE largely funded and supported by the very big business interests whose practices have put us in this situation. Fuck them.
Hey what the fuck Where's MY goddamn check?
Hey what the fuck Where's MY goddamn check?
Exxon's PR department can hook you up. If you're going to criticize legitimate science, you might as well get paid for it. Fuckin hippies don't have any money, I do this pro bono. :sigh:
There is a difference between feigning scientific knowledge and questioning whether or not action should be taken. I am a skeptic in that I don't really see any point on blowing fuckloads of money on Global Warming hysteria until we actually find something that might help to spend on. i.e. let's not worry so goddamn much about small shit and fuel regulations (FUCKING ETHANOL) and instead spend that metric fuckload on something much more viable in the future. It's called an investment. Right now we are investing in a shovelful of bullshit. [editline]04:24PM[/editline] And don't even get me STARTED on goddamn Ethanol. I want to find the motherfucker who decided it would be a wonderful fucking idea to put it in EVERY GODDAMN GAS STATION. I just want normal unleaded, the shit my car was designed to run on. But no, I gotta use dis shit that's tearing my engine all to goddamn.

That's worth investing serious money in, not glorified handouts to corn farmers.
Good. Global warming skeptics ARE largely funded and supported by the very big business interests whose practices have put us in this situation. Fuck them.
:raise: I'm a skeptic, and I'm not funded by some company. I've looked at the theory and evidence neutrally and skeptically (AKA scientificly) and found that it's mainly bollocks.
sorry broheim but true skepticism is based on reasonable scientific doubt and there really isn't any reasonable scientific doubt on the subject of anthropogenic climate change, it's just all dumb politics and teenagers who take their politics from south park [editline]03:31PM[/editline]
:raise: I'm a sceptic, and I'm not funded by some company.
But you believe the crap that is pushed out by people who are.
I've looked at the theory and evidence neutrally and sceptically (AKA scientificly) and found that it's mainly bollocks.
a true skeptic would be able to spell "skeptic" QED
sorry broheim but acting like a child when confronted with doubt isn't helping your case. [editline]05:32PM[/editline] In fact it only strengthens the opposition's case when you replace logic with infantile bullshit and insults.
sorry broheim but acting like a child when confronted with doubt isn't helping your case.
I'm not defending this guy, and it is not actual doubt. It is politics. It's the same style of politics that leads a large portion of Americans to not believe in Evolution that also leads people to doubt climate change.
FYI when you use the phrase "believe in" when referring to scientific theory you are belittling your own goddamn position by implying there is something to believe rather than something to know. [editline]05:36PM[/editline] Nobody believes in evolution. Either they understand it or they do not.
Oh U.N. :allears:
also what I am doing right now is pointing out how terrible a persuasive speaker you are.

[editline]05:36PM[/editline] Nobody believes in evolution. Either they understand it or they do not.
nope, public discourse in America has pretty much devolved to the point where scientific theories like evolution and anthropogenic climate change are largely debated on the basis of ideology rather than fact, QED the fact that people in this thread are treating climate change as a political debate rather than a scientific one. This debate is not between skeptics and supporters, it's between scientists and politicians.
That is an incredibly ill-informed and downright embarrassing oversimplification of the political ramifications being discussed.
also what I am doing right now is pointing out how terrible a persuasive speaker you are.
shit I'm not really giving my best game here on facepunch.com, website for players of a video game mod. I really got to step it up give me a second so I can put my postin' gloves on
That is an incredibly ill-informed and downright embarrassing oversimplification of the political ramifications being discussed.
no I am pretty sure that it is actually that bad

And people always complain where government money goes.
It becomes a political issue when scientists start asking for money to correct the issue. And people always complain where government money goes.
for very good reason, because it is our money.
for very good reason, because it is our money.
Yep. Although I felt that went with out saying.
Yep. Although I felt that went with out saying.
it's good not to give him the wiggle-room to say that it's their money and their call.
