Well hey it isn't everyday now is it
No but twice in a week isn't exactly something to celebrate
Is a gun going to get up and start shooting itself? No. People with mental issues go on the shooting sprees. Not the gun.
Those people with mental issues can't go on shooting sprees if they don't have access to guns.
"I hate niggers but not all black people are niggers"
And he's standing by it
I'm not backpedaling on my own opinion because it's unpopular. I'm sorry.
why would anyone rate the op funny?
Welcome to Facepunch.
The slippery slope is a made up argument employed by gun owners to further avoid any and all attempts to moderate cowboy gun culture and laws
Made up argument? I'm simply saying it's a right along with a bunch of others we have. Guns may not be the best example of a right that shouldn't be taken away, but my question is at what point do we accept that fact that people will do bad things no matter what.
We should fix what makes people do these things in the first place, regardless if guns are banned or not
Unfortunately so, as someone had to start gun debate shitstorm #404.
I don't blame the person who started the debate, I blame the culture of gun fetishism that has gotten so bad on this forum that now even mentioning gun control in response to our now weekly mass shootings causes people to lose their fucking minds.
If the regulations on who could obtain a firearm were more rigorous and the black market for firearms was more harshly cracked down upon there would be fewer mass shootings in this country. There are other factors to be taken into account and the mere presence of guns is certainly not the cause but sane fucking gun laws in this country certainly would not make things any worse. The fact that this has become a politically toxic opinion to hold shows just how far gone everybody in the public sphere is when it comes to the gun control debate.
ABC reporting that the shooter was 24, and was apparently carrying 4 weapons. Take with a grain of salt
atleast it isnt fox news
but seriously though what the fuck
who in any state of mind would go to a fucking elementary school and start shooting
im rarely raging but this just gets my blood boiling
The police have a second person in for questioning.
I'm not backpedaling on my own opinion because it's unpopular. I'm sorry.
Nobody is asking you to.You are racist tho
There are a class of people that contribute nothing positive to society and somehow because I believe that there are people of color in this category I am somehow a racist.
"I'm not racist"
while he says a racist comment.
Keep on trucking on Protocol
ABC says there is a second gunman still at large.
The slippery slope is a made up argument employed by gun owners to further avoid any and all attempts to moderate cowboy gun culture and laws
Does someone really need to say this? Accusing someone of being some redneck/cowboy gun owner baselessly and complaining about them not wanting to debate gun control in a news thread about an elementary school being shot up is a very bad method of trying to start shit. It makes you seem like an overaggressive asshole in the worst way and time possible.
That and the oncoming 2012 apocalypse which many of the mentally ill (and any persons with a really tenuous grip on reality) believe in. I have no doubt there will be a few more shootings and maybe a mass suicide or two before December 21st.
I hope there is a mass suicide of these people, honestly
And as far as Gun laws are concerned. It's too late to go to the way England is in this country. There's no going that route. Stricter gun control doesn't do shit either because criminals don't obey the law to begin with. 320 Million people in his huge country, you can't let individuals with mental illness dictate how you write and pass laws concerning everyone, especially over a right in our constitution
You can take preventative measures, give teachers concealed weapons that they have to take course on over the summer, better drills and doors with locks, but the reality is, there's nothing you can do to 100% prevent people like this from doing harm somewhere. Even if we had no guns, they'd just use knives. Like in China
There are a class of people that contribute nothing positive to society
Holy shit that is dumb.
Well hey it isn't everyday now is it
Are you actually serious?
Back to what I said previously, how do you prevent this with laws and legislation?
Mentally ill people aren't some rabid animal that you can easily spot in a crowd how are you supposed to weed these people out of the masses.
The issue seems to be more leaning to healthcare and mental health
A law enforcement official says the gunman was 20, and was carrying a .223 rifle.
Those people with mental issues can't go on shooting sprees if they don't have access to guns.
They can just build bombs and blow up 27 people. Or drive into a crowd of people. Or stab a bunch of people.
Treating an effect of a far wider and more serious problem will do little in the long term.
Alright, this tragedy may be a catalyst for such discussions but can we please return to the topic at hand?
A law enforcement official says the gunman was 20, and was carrying a .223 rifle.
So the story about the Glock and Sig handguns isn't true?
Surely there should be some inquiry into what can be done to stop these shootings. It might be that guns should be banned, or that everyone should be given a free assault rifle, but how can the government continue to just do literally nothing at all in the face of all these shootings?
Ohmygod. Just get the 21st over with, please don't let this get worse.
It may be an idiot cull, but its a destructive idiot cull with serious collateral damage.
In Arizona I can buy a gun at the show without showing any ID and its entirely legal. I've done it myself
Kopimi isn't lieing about this. I've been able to buy guns, ammo, and all sorts of things at Arizona Gun Shows without showing ID or anything.
I don't mind people selling ammo, guns, and memorabilia, but we need to have better checking of what goes down in gun shows. That much I can agree with. Even something as simple as you getting a NCIS background check before entering would greatly reduce the amount of negligence for sold merchandise at gun shows.

provide better mental healthcare and remove the stigma associated with getting help with said mental disorders

Maybe even deeper than that, to the level of our culture or society.
We live in a very disaster-oriented world right now. People who are extremely upset/sad/angry/whatever want "things" to happen. Whether bad or good. People want to be noticed, people want shit to go down, people want to express raw energy. Everywhere, not just the US. The vitality of this, combined with increasingly socially-withdrawn people maybe. We need to get these people help.
Apparently the gunman had ties with the school.

1:17 p.m: One shooter is described as 24-years-old, armed with four weapons and wearing a bullet-proof vest, sources tell ABC News.
Children are dead, and you nitwits want to talk about your stupid guns? UGH

It honestly amazed me how even during the presidential race it wasn't even acknowledged.
The American public have only got themselves to blame to make the subject so toxic and political suicide.

Obviously. You need lots of ID to even get in the doors nowadays.
