Ban cars on the street. They make smoke!
Cars are good for transport. What are cigs good for?
Cars are good for transport. What are cigs good for?
Taxes amigo. Tax the living shit out of anything that is massively used, and ask yourself... Why would you want to ban it?
Also...
Have someone smoke a ciggerate in a room with you for 15 minutes. Now... You have a small chance of getting some illness from it.
Have someone run a car in a room with you in it... You'll be dead in 15 minutes.
Ask yourself. Which one is the real killer?
Alright no more smoking in a lot of places in NYC!

The above post made me laugh a little, then lose faith in humanity's ability to change. :eng99:
i miss the good old days when babys came out of the womb with a cigar and a glass of jack Daniels.

Fuck the whiskey... A jug of good ole' moonshine.
While I do think smoking is a bad idea, the government has no place telling people what they can and can't do with their bodies. Second hand smoke is just bullshit they use to try and justify it.
True. And I'd be fine with the decision if it was made using a referendum to let the public decide what can go in in a public place.. But it wasn't.
Because hotels and restaurants provide a necessary service.
And don't use the libertarian-style rebuttal of "people will just take their money elsewhere if they don't like it" because that isn't always an option, especially in poor neighbourhoods.
You don't NEED to sleep in a hotel or sleep in a resturant. You know what my friends and family do when we roadtrip? We go to a store, buy food, and sleep in the car or at a friends house.
In that hospital thread a few months ago I was proven wrong about third-hand smoke not being dangerous. There haven't been any concrete studies but it seems like it may well be.
And if you don't buy that, hotel rooms all share the same ventilation system so you can be exposed to second-hand smoke.
Show me a reputable source that isn't government funded and maybe I'll start to believe you.
Either way between the smoke being filtered, and mostly absorbed into the smokers body, the smoke that they blow out is so thin that you only need maybe a foot or two of space before you aren't getting any of the smoke.
And I haven't read each post because I fell asleep, but has ANYBODY coutered my arguments that factories that make things nonessential to living emit a crapton more fumes into the air that actually stay in the air for an extended time?
Cigarettes are bad.
They get littered everywhere, and make an area and a person smell like complete shit. Go smoke in your house
That's what my mom does, she has her room at the very top of the house, so smoke doesn't go throughout the house... But she often walks around with it to the bathroom and the kitchen and then I smell it and I get pissed because she said she promised me that she would stop smoking through the house, but nope she obviously fucking cares about having a fucking smoke than my lungs.

Oh please, just smelling it isn't getting it in your lungs. Unless you're standing dead infront of her and she blows it out as you inhale you aren't getting shit in your lungs. And even then it's pretty much been double filtered because it goes through the filter and then the smoker, so pretty much all the crap has been absorbed
Good. Smoking's one of the worst things you can do to your body.
Good. Smoking's one of the worst things you can do to your body.
Doesn't justify the government telling us what we can and cannot put into our bodies.
Plus rolling tobacco like American spirit brand doesn't have all the chemicals that regular cigarettes do.
Good. Smoking's one of the worst things you can do to your body.
Sure, but don't you think it's stupid for the government to not allow it (in parks in beaches)? I don't think it's going to harm anyone besides yourself because parks and beaches are obviously big.
Everyone's such a big baby in this thread.
Smoking is bad and everyone's upset the government doesn't want their people doing bad things to themselves.
Well I'm not sure about this one but seeing cigarette butts everywhere in parks and on the beach is gross

That isn't the government's responsibility.

Filthy smoker! Get out of here, dirty-lung! Go ahead and kill yourself, stupid tar-breath!
Hint: this is fucking stupid.
That isn't the government's responsibility.
It's not their responsibility to keep them healthy?
That isn't the government's responsibility.
Well people are obviously not taking care of their own responsibility. Its amazing when everyone has they rights, they abuse, but when the government threatens to take it away to protect others around them, they bitch because it.
Even in fucking parks?
That's recockulous.
The government isn't there to protect us from ourselves. As long as there are warning labels on cigarettes and other substances, they have no business telling us not to use them. Especially when the people who buy them pay the tax to the government TO have them.
And it still doesn't stop them...
It's not their responsibility to keep them healthy?
No.

Wow, you're right. The first page of this thread is cursed or something.
so pretty much all the crap has been absorbed
If you smell shit after someone takes a dump, you aren't inhaling the shit.
Good, now lets get shit habit killed.
