Hey guys, I smoke because I don't wanna get old! It relieves stress! Besides, being able to run a lap without having to stop to catch my breath due to having fucked-up lungs, not smelling like shit, not wasting money, and not having my life revolve around tubes filled with fucked up chemicals is overrated! But hey, I won't grow old! I know it's your personal decision, but it's a fucking dumb one.

Internet killswitch; 'OMG government can't control us like this!' Ban on smoking; 'OMG I don't smoke, it's bad! Ban it!' I'm starting to notice a trend here.

though I'd almost want to slip into a park where it's less crowded than the streets of New York if I wanted to be courteous with my smoking

This is pretty stupid, the only thing I agree with is the fact that alot of smokers litter, answer? stick ashtrays next to the trashcans they have at benches. I don't smoke cigarettes, I do however smoke cigars and tobacco pipes, not very often, maybe a couple times a week, but I will tell you one thing, it is INCREDIBLY relaxing, I used to be real anti-smoking, and then I got offered a cigar one time and tried it, theres nothing quite like the feeling of relaxing with some buddies outside on a nice day and smoking a little, whatever your smoking preference is. I mean shit, Albert Einstein smoked pipes to help him relax and think. Also second hand smoke is bullshit, if someones smoking just get about 3 feet away from them, problem solved.

I don't smoke cigarettes except for when they're offered to me in social situations, but I don't see how smoking in a park can be harmful to anyone, even IF they're right next to the smoker. The wind carries it away and the smoke dissipates very quickly. I'm seeing a lot of people in this thread saying "who cares if the ban is justified, smoking is bad for you", and that's the exact kind of mentality that keeps other even less harmful shit illegal. We should be able to put whatever we want in our bodies. Of course, this ban is obviously supposed to be directed toward the safety of others, but I think the basis of it is absolute BS. Parks and beaches are big.

Hi guys I have a habit that can cause cancer, and the government wants to stop me from subjecting those around me to it! The government sucks man! I mean screw the government and everyone who doesn't like me smoking. They're all dumb because they don't like breathing in smoke. :colbert: "Avoid people who smoke" is also a dumb thing to say. Ok, I'll go step out into the street in front of a truck to avoid a guy with a cigar. I'll go cross a 6 lane street to avoid some chick who's just sparking up. And I [i][b]LOVE[/b][/i] it when people blow cigarette smoke in my face when I'm eating / drinking. It makes my food taste of ash and is [i][b]so nice[/b][/i]. Ever since smoking was banned in bars and restaurants, I've really enjoyed going for a beer with friends. For non-smokers (which, might I add are the [b]majority[/b] of people), second hand cigarette smoke is disgusting at best. Ash and cigarette butts in the street is unsanitary and disgusting. I don't know about you but if I walk into a town and see cigarette butts (or any other kind of litter) all over the street I get a really bad opinion of the town. Democracy prevails.
