With that opening statement I was only reiterating what most smokers in this thread (on the first 7 pages) were basically saying.
They were saying that it's everyone else's problem if they light a cigarette and smoke in the street. Or this:
"I'm not going to stop smoking so YOU move out the way if you don't like it."
Smoking is a habit that is unhealthy (I personally get coughing fits very easily, and walking through a smoke filled corridor caused me to cough and break a rib once) and in my opinion a little disgusting, yet some of the smokers in this thread seem to be defending it so angrily.
If some guy was standing in the park slapping everyone who walked within 2 metres of him, wouldn't you ask him to stop? Wouldn't you ban slapping people if lots of people were doing it? What if every time he slapped someone he dropped litter? Wouldn't you ban it so less litter is dropped?
Slapping people is an annoying habit that affects people around you in a bad way. People-slappers say it relieves stress and is adictive, yet poses no health risks and is no way annoying, so why should they change even though the majority of people don't like it / partake in it?
I refuse to stop slapping people in public because they should just avoid me!

No, no I'm not.

I've been in DD a few months now, and there always seems to be some discussion going on.

Have you complained about how it's deadly? If so, you are.

I would set up places for litter so that if people continue to litter, it would make sense to make littering a crime/fineable offense.
Smoking inside is harmful and bad, yes, but out in the open in a city you're more at risk of exhaust fumes than anything else.
Smoking is nothing like slapping people.
And again, Tyranny of the majority is not a good thing

I complained that I don't like it and I broke a rib once due to a coughing fit caused by second hand smoke.
How the fuck is that over-exaggerating.

Well in that case, you're right. I was assuming that the forums down there were all considered custom forums

Peanut consumption does not affect everyone around you in a 2m radius.
If you're allergic to nuts you need to come into direct contact with them to be affected.
Being near someone who eats nuts will not bother you unless they spit the nuts all over you or something.

Nice edit.
Is there anything actually good about smoking?
No, be quiet now.

Oh god this.
You know smoking used to be a classy thing to do. Unfortunately it's been taken over by dirtbags.

Wow, two meters is nothing though. You literally cannot walk two meters out of the way of people who are smoking? I don't understand, do you walk directly into an occupied designated smoking area, then hang around and sniff the air as hard as you can until you hyperventilate just so you have something to complain about?

Peanuts leave residue. There are people that can die simply by touching something that a person eating peanuts recently touched. Someone at the supermarket I used to work at went into anaphylactic shock because they brushed up against a wooden pallet that just happened to have flakes of peanut skins on it.

[release]The city’s health commissioner, Dr. Thomas A. Farley, said Tuesday that smoking was the leading preventable cause of death among residents, killing 7,500 New Yorkers per year, more than AIDS, drugs, homicide and suicide combined.[/release]

Nicotine is a drug as well. They should clarify more. (The source that is, not the OP.)

First off, 2 meters is very bad measurement for, especially when you're talking about an open park.
Second, I know people with nut allergies who break out in hives just being near tree-nuts.
Wow, two meters is nothing though. You literally cannot walk two meters out of the way of people who are smoking? My college has these outdoor corridor things. They're just sheltered pathways really.
They're about 3 metres wide and smokers usually hang around under them smoking between classes.
There are some areas where I HAVE to walk directly past groups of smokers, as that is the only way to the next class.
You're exaggerating. If you have breathing difficulties you don't need to "hang around and sniff the air as hard as you can" to be affected. As I mentioned earlier I have issues with coughing fits that can be caused rather easily.
I don't enjoy complaining about things, by the way, so no. I don't do that.

My dad had his allergy set off by smelling them a couple tables over, he almost died.
It bothers me, so the liberties of others should be affected too.
I see your point.

Your rib-breaking fits are just as rare as people who can't touch doorknobs in case someone was eating a peanut butter sandwich earlier and didn't wash their hands.
Personal responsibility needs to factor in at some point. These guys can bring latex gloves and an Epi-Pen with them. You can buy a surgical mask or take a different route. Tons of options are available.

Alcohol can be used as a preservative, can be used as anaesthetic and also an antiseptic. Bars are generally lively social hubs where people come to enjoy themselves.
Chocolate contains a chemical that triggers the brain to release endorphins that can actually help reduce high blood pressure.
Video games can significantly improve reaction times and provide entertainment when other forms of entertainment may be inappropriate. The video game industry generates a lot of money each year, and helps graphic designers and or writers get big breaks on their concepts.
