Alcohol can be used as a preservative, can be used as anaesthetic and also an antiseptic. Bars are generally lively social hubs where people come to enjoy themselves. Chocolate contains a chemical that triggers the brain to release endorphins that can actually help reduce high blood pressure. Video games can significantly improve reaction times and provide entertainment when other forms of entertainment may be inappropriate. The video game industry generates a lot of money each year, and helps graphic designers and or writers get big breaks on their concepts.
Cigarettes are a common fix for irritable bowel syndrome in some people. What now? haha, last three posts
Oh I'm sorry I forgot, everyone should do what the hell they want because they can because of 'liberties', even if it bothers other people!
If people had the right to not be offended or disturbed. Literally everything would be illegal.
That was sarcasm, but I'm pretty sure you got it.
cough cough cough what?
Your rib-breaking fits are just as rare as people who can't touch doorknobs in case someone was eating a peanut butter sandwich earlier and didn't wash their hands. Personal responsibility needs to factor in at some point. These guys can bring latex gloves and an Epi-Pen with them. You can buy a surgical mask or take a different route. Tons of options are available.
Another option would be to disallow smoking in public places. Nuts are banned in some areas of my college because we have some people with nut allergies, why shouldn't they do the same for people who react badly to cigarette smoke? @Above posts, I wasn't saying smoking doesn't have good points, I was discussing its bad points.
Oh I'm sorry I forgot, everyone should do what the hell they want because they can because of 'liberties', even if it bothers other people!
Now you're getting it.
haha, last three posts
Kickass combo.

The point is that it isn't the government legislating a peanut ban as they are with cigarettes. So I pose the question once again: do you support a mandatory peanut ban in all public places?
If people had the right to not be offended or disturbed. Literally everything would be illegal.
Your opinion is offensive to me.
Well, that's your college. The point is that it isn't the government legislating a peanut ban as they are with cigarettes. So I pose the question once again: do you support a mandatory peanut ban in all public places?
The percentage of people who are allergic to peanuts is nothing compared to the percentage of people who do not smoke. It would be impractical to legislate a ban of that scale, as all food products would need to be checked for nut traces, and it is not always obvious who is eating nuts / has eaten nuts / has come into contact with nuts. Cigarettes are found in three forms: Pipes, Cigars and Cigarettes. It is very easy to spot who is smoking. Nuts are used in so many food products you couldn't imagine. Nuts also occur naturally on trees. Are you proposing that we should ban trees?
The percentage of people who are allergic to peanuts is nothing compared to the percentage of people who do not smoke.
Numbers have nothing to do with it. It's an all or nothing deal. Governments aren't allowed to pick and choose.
Not smoking =\= Being alergic to smoke
You don't have the right to be in a non smoking environment wtf is wrong with you people. Let people smoke if they want, jesus christ. If you don't like it say something or leave the area.
It's an all or nothing deal.
Hey America, I'd like to tell you about a little thing called democracy
You don't have the right to be in a non smoking environments wtf is wrong with you people. Let people smoke if they want, jesus christ.
Hey America, I'd like to tell you about a little thing called democracy
Again, the United States is not a democracy.
Hey America, I'd like to tell you about a little thing called democracy
The United States is not a democracy. :colbert:
The percentage of people who are allergic to peanuts is nothing compared to the percentage of people who do not smoke.
The percentage of people fatally allergic to peanuts is likely similar to the percentage of people who actually break a rib when they get near smoke.
It would be impractical to legislate a ban of that scale, as all food products would need to be checked for nut traces, and it is not always obvious who is eating nuts / has eaten nuts / has come into contact with nuts.
But why don't you think of the poor peanut allergy sufferers? Show some EMPATHY!
Nuts are used in so many food products you couldn't imagine. Nuts also occur naturally on trees. Are you proposing that we should ban trees?
Tobacco is a plant. Are you proposing we ban plants?
Not smoking =\= Being alergic to smoke
Nuts only have the ability to adversely affect those who are allergic. Tar and nicotine have the ability to adversely affect anyone.
My college has these outdoor corridor things. They're just sheltered pathways really. They're about 3 metres wide and smokers usually hang around under them smoking between classes. There are some areas where I HAVE to walk directly past groups of smokers, as that is the only way to the next class. You're exaggerating. If you have breathing difficulties you don't need to "hang around and sniff the air as hard as you can" to be affected. As I mentioned earlier I have issues with coughing fits that can be caused rather easily. I don't enjoy complaining about things, by the way, so no. I don't do that.
This is an outdoor covered walkway and you can't walk around? Sounds like laziness to me. Besides, should millions of smokers be denied something they find pleasurable because of the rare one in a million occurrence that someone like you exists who apparently has tissue paper for lungs? You're the minority here, I don't see why your complaints should justify a disservice to smokers throughout an entire city. None of them are trying to give you coughing fits, most smokers probably assume that people who decide to walk by them don't have a huge problem with it (because of the obvious choice of walking around them), just as I would assume people who come to a pub and recklessly rub their hands all over the peanut-oil ridden bar don't have peanut allergies.
Cigarettes are a common fix for irritable bowel syndrome in some people. What now? haha, last three posts
What seriously? I think I might have IBS, so this is great news
Nuts only have the ability to adversely affect those who are allergic. Tar and nicotine have the ability to adversely affect anyone.
No. Not even remotely close in the level of severity. Just, no. [editline]09:46PM[/editline]
What seriously? I think I might have IBS, so this is great news
Only certain types. If you have the wrong kind nicotine will make it worse. Talk to your doctor.
Again, the United States is not a democracy.
Did I ever say it was? In fact, the whole point of that post was to highlight that is is not.

And although you might argue that there are alternatives and more efficient ways to get similar effects, I could also say the same thing about the above listed things. But I won't because people genuinely enjoy these things.
you can't walk around?
Fences?
Did I ever say it was? In fact, the whole point of that post was to highlight that is is not.
You've made my night. I thank you for that.
Did I ever say it was? In fact, the whole point of that post was to highlight that is is not.
What the fuck are you saying then Stop beating around the bush and get to the point you're annoying everyone here.
Fences?
Hold your breath for the whopping second it takes to walk past them
Fences?
You know what, you might want to talk with your school administrators about that one, that just sounds like awful building design. If they've provided no other areas to get through and that IS a designated smoking area, then you take that up with the school, you don't ban smoking in parks in an entire city. Besides, don't try to compare a 3ft, fenced off walkway at one school to an entire park. If you honestly see any logic in that at all then I don't see any point in arguing anymore.
No. Not even remotely close in the level of severity. Just, no. [editline]09:46PM[/editline] Only certain types. If you have the wrong kind nicotine will make it worse. Though I've noticed it's been getting better lately, as well as me smoking more lately, which might say something [editline]11:51PM[/editline]
Fences?
That's a problem with the school, not the act of smoking. I'd talk to higher-ups about that, myself
What the fuck are you saying then Stop beating around the bush and get to the point you're annoying everyone here.
19.8% of the american population smokes. If there were 10 people and 2 of them had an unhealthy habit that bothered the other 8, the other 8 could ask them to stop. This is called a majority decision. Are you saying that the actions of the few should be justified when they are uncomfortable for the many?
