Pepper;38424452']How the fuck do you know you don't have any viruses?
A good virus is one that isn't noticed.
And what about a drive by virus, or flash drives?
You are one hell of an idiot.
Haha, ok. Never said I didn't but oh well.
Yet you claim that common sense is the best antivirus and your post implies that you don't have any viruses.

If you want to argue go ahead and PM me to avoid clogging the thread with off topic discussion. It was more of a joke than anything.
This is probably the stupidest and most pointless argument ever so I'm backing out before one of us gets banned.

Being ignorant won't stop viruses.

Yes, that post really did come across as a joke. haha, i'm laughing. No, i think you are backpedaling actually.
People with that sort of mindset are THE MOST LIKELY to get viruses.
I know this because my job is to sort that stuff out
They go "lol i only browse safe stuff i can't get any virus" and then wonder why their PC is slower than the magic roundabout.

I use free services and common sense. I've built my system from the ground up and have used it for years. I agree with the guy above who uses Malwarebytes and also things like MSE. I don't understand why everyone's making a big deal out of this. I just rattled off some ridiculous things that nobody has ever fallen for/done ever.

A joke that some people might take as literal advice.

Are you still backpedalling?
'John McAfee' sounds like a loose cannon cop who doesn't play by the rules

Isn't this really, REALLY old news? I remember hearing something like this ages ago. Same guy and everything.
Also, why does this always happen in Bananastan
I'm just going to go ahead and say I saw an article somewhere that had something to do with Mcafee and murder something like last year, but it probably wasn't this story
[editline]12th November 2012[/editline]
Could be about him being falsely arrested for drug stuff

You're a loose cannon, McAffee! Gimme your badge and your firewall!
John McAfee - that's like John Lua!

Greetings from sipwicket, we're here to ptero-you a new asshole.
calling the inventor of a really popular adware a "pioneer" is a bit of a stretch

He was a pioneer in Adware
New Norton is somewhat better than it used to be. New McAfee is terrible
both are terrible. there's no reason not to just install MSE and forget about it
John McAfee - that's like John Lua!
More like Hans Reiser :v:
I love Mcafee and use it on all my computers
Common sense is the best antivirus. Contrary to popular belief there are not several horny lonely teenagers in your neighborhood that need you of all people to "help" them.
Being the millionth visitor isn't anything special either and for the love of god don't take the torrent files at the top of the page that say "Exactly what you typed in the search bar [FULL]".
MSE uses like no system resources and is not even noticeable

You can get away without an AV quite easily if you know what you're doing.
Don't use the administrator account for every day use (same goes for linux and root yadayada), use common sense and install a minimal amount of software.

and go ahead and uninstall your web browsers

When a trusted site gets infected with something, or when you're on Facepunch and someone hotlinks an image from an infected site, what do you do then? You won't even know it's happened until it kicks in and wrecks everything on your hard drive.
And don't say it's not going to happen, because it happens all the fucking time.
Seems odd, I remember reading an article a few months ago about this guy. He has a huge beef with the mayor of that town because the mayor is a corrupt motherfucker and wants MacAfee to bribe him. The mayor even had MacAfee's dog shot
I wonder if anyone has actually voluntarily installed McAfee, seeing as it comes preinstalled on Dells.
buying a dell implies consent!!!!
[sub][sub][sub]Oh god please don't kill me[/sub][/sub][/sub]
No exceptions.
'John McAfee' sounds like a loose cannon cop who doesn't play by the rules
For some reason, I'm reminded of James McCaffrey and all I can visualize is a balding loose cannon cop who doesn't play by the rules.
Kaspersky Fan here, but sadly my sub ended recently for my whole family, we moved back to AVG until we found one better and affordable in our budget.
MSE uses like no system resources and is not even noticeable
On my old xp computer, it would be impossible to do anything when MSE was running

Your old XP machine must have been like a pentium II or had something seriously wrong with it.
MSE is only using around 60MB of RAM on my laptop right now.
Am I the only one who doesn't use any antivirus?
