Here's the offending part.

It's a cheesey 50's information video that includes the sort of stereotyping that was around that time, it's not meant to be taken seriously in any way shape or form and is just used as an over-exaggerated joke.
Did you even read my post or did you just see the word racism and assumed I thought it was racist when I don't?

best part of the video is they're also clearly making fun of racism considering the math part
people are fucking shallow lmao
I tweeted the guy and asked him on what basis the joke he wanted removed was offensive and he replied saying I should read the Kotaku article and a wikipedia link.

"Lynching of Jesse Washington"
This motherfucker is relating the satirical humor of a 50s instructural video (aka pixels in a video game) to the actual murder of an african-american
what the everloving fuck
Someone make a mod to patch it back in quickly
Where is thisispain, he will be able to tell us if this is truly racism.
i guess he joke here is that no one on FP understands the base concepts of racism lol that's pretty on the head good job
[editline]24th October 2013[/editline]
It doesn't offend me, I just think the people who complained are dumb or looking for any old reason to moan about something.
you're doing the exact same thing
[editline]24th October 2013[/editline]
a reasonable way to respond to what happened here
"I'm not exactly married to the visual gag there," Wreden said, "it doesn't make or break anything about that particular section, and we always wanted the game to be something that could be played by anyone of any age. If a person would feel less comfortable showing the game to their children then I've got no problem helping fix that!"
an unreasonable way to respond to it
I don't give a crap, it's funny
way to be, facepunch
VIDEO GAMES MUST CATER TO MY NEEDS

This reminds me of someone that compared MLP being seperated from others in an Second Life sim.... to the segregation of blacks
said person also flamed the shit out of me when I asked her wtf that was all about
the argument against mlp avatars wasn't even about hating on mlp, that was the best part
I haven't played this yet, but I hope he doesn't remove it especially if it was only a 'few' complaints
Watch the video above. The only thing he is complaining about is the game being "tasteless" because the image it shows.
They'll probably edit that part with an even more hilarious disclaimer
Knowing the devs I wouldn't put it past them to make another video in the vein of the Raphael one.

hey why don't you guys just go read what he actually said because it is 100% more logical and less spergy than any of the ridiculous "haha fuck you if u r offended (im white btw)" shit you're all suggesting
[editline]24th October 2013[/editline]
it's not an edgy or even adult game, it's meant to be enjoyed by literally anyone including kids
He should just find the most comedic way to censor the completely wrong issue. ie: just the cigarette or the guys face
VIDEO GAMES MUST CATER TO MY NEEDS
which is why i demand this joke be left in. the thought that a game dev might take other people's feelings into account is sickening

Neither of those articles explain his point well.
Not at all infact.

Both of them only state that he got offended. On his twitter he first said "A white man giving black children cigarettes or setting them on fire in Stanley Parable = not cool or funny", making it a racial issue. Now he says the fact that he gives a kid a cigarette is what is bad taste, again ignoring context.
This guy is just really easily offended
i cant believe people are going out of their way to disagree with what the game dev has already said he WANTS to do. it's not like he is being forced or even coaxed into anything, he just had two small complaints pointed out to them and like a reasonable human being considered them and decided to empathize with these complaints.

The thing is, this situation deals with racism, and racism and controversial subjects like that are a hive you don't really want to beat when it comes to the product you're trying to sell.
At the end of the day I can understand why they'd change it. You can say any publicity is good publicity but in the end it comes down to what kind of publicity it is, and a sensitive subject like this wouldn't be good for a startup company selling their first product as a new company.
Neither of those articles explain his point well.

who's point? the dev couldnt be more clear. do you need the argument for the change to be made as well? unfortunately, you arent the dev so you dont get to decide for him if said argument is worth making a change over or not. he clearly was and that frankly is none of your business.

there's a prevalent idea that a massive force of literal social justice warriors exists to siege creators and beat them until their demands are met

yeah listen it really doesnt matter what the people who were offendeds' issues are, they are not YOUR problem, it's not YOUR game.

This video is not offensive and should be shown to kids i think
>a COUPLE player complaints
If you change something every time a few people complain, you won't have any game left.
I suppose he wanted to avoid tumblr and Kotaku latching onto it and turning it into a shitstorm.
Because of this I just purchased TSP.
GG Social Justice.

The joke is about a kid being lit on fire, not a black person being lit on fire. The kid just so happened to be black. So yeah, this has nothing to with racism.

Something that is G-Rated doesn't mean that it's for kids. 2001: A Space Odyssey has content that happens to be appropriate for all ages, that doesn't mean it's for kids.

We're not complaining about the guy changing the game, he is free to if someone like this makes a complaint. It's just that a lot of us think the complaint doesn't have any substance.
I really hope they don't remove it
I don't see what the big deal is, but hey, I'm sure the devs will think of something equally funny to replace it.
how fucking racist do you have to be to look at that and think the joke is the kid being black
