Famous Wii-hacker finds his way into Wii-u, finds full specifications

I like how Nintendo does not give any fucks about the other consoles in the industry and just does its own thing.
It doesn't make sense to compare it to Xbox and PS because it's just a totally different thing.
Assassin's Creed 3 looks better on the Wii U than the 360 because it's a proper port
or because the GPU is better and it has more memory. Its CPU is still worse.
WHAT THE HELL IS A CLOCK SPEED? I DON'T SPEAK GEEK.
Do you speak car? It's like RPM in an engine

Because graphics alone are not winning the console war.
For Nintendo, it is all about the gameplay.

I'm inept in that department too, so my wild guess is Rounds Per Minute.

Rotations per minute. Cars don't shoot guns, typically.

clock speed is kinda like dick size
having a big one is probably good, but it's not gonna make you a sudden expert in bed, you need to know how to use it properly- or in this case, the ones programming the game.
Do you speak car? It's like RPM in an engine
While it's true that it is like the RPM in a car, it's effects are a lot different.
Higher clockspeed =/= higher performance, and lower clockspeed =/= lower peformance.
It's also worth noting that the clockspeed in this instance is probably variable, for example my processor idles at around 800 MHz, but also when running simple programs or just music it stays at 800.
The processor scales up/down based on what it's doing, and there wasn't much being done when these stats were collected I'd wager.

It can, my bulldozer wasn't doing so well until I bought NH-D14 and OC'd to 5Ghz. Required uncomfortably high vcore but it works.
Because clock speeds are everything right? Read this article:
http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/comments/developers-have-it-wrong-the-wii-u-is-powerful-its-just-next-generation-pow
I know it's from a nintendo based website, but it's still pretty informative. Could it have been higher? Maybe, but it doesn't really matter. Whether this article is right or not, it's sad to see people assuming it's slow just because of the clock speed. Saying the full specifications were found is far from the truth too, It only has the clock speeds.
omg even phones are faster than that nowadays!11

So basically they're a bias source, and saying that the Wii hacker guy is a liar. The CPU is obviously not performing well... the fucking 360 gets better framerates then the Wii U especially when there is a lot going on. Multiple developers have even said its bottlenecked by the "horrible" cpu.
By the time the PS4 and Xbox 720 come out, the Wii-U is going to be a dumping ground of half-assed, terrible looking ports of the games coming from other systems, like the Wii was.
Hell, it already started off with a bunch of ports from third parties.

Did you read the article? It was written days before this, and it even states that it is indeed at a lower clock rate. The metro 2033 developers said they could get it to work but they don't have enough people to work on it after they made that initial statement, and you can't judge a consoles performance when it first comes out, based on 3rd party ports, as it's a new system and it may have to change how developers optimize and get things to run, which may take time. I'm not saying the article i linked it 100% true, but I think it has the right idea which is that it has other methods, maybe more power and performance efficient ways to run.

So basically its going to make next-gen developers not bother developing for it since it would hold back the entire industry including the PC. They'd rather give it to the same people that make android ports.

If your referring to my statement about the Metro 2033 developers, they don't have enough people to work on it because they are a small company, and it's being published by a dying company, they're happy enough to be getting it on PS3.

Its going to be the same thing that happened to the Wii, great sales until the next gen consoles came out then it got forgotten and nobody really developed for it.

Wii still sold more than the 360 and PS3, but we'll see. If I remember correctly though, xbox 360 came first, then PS3, then Wii (although only a few days after PS3).
Wii still sold more than the 360 and PS3, but we'll see.
Thats because it was first. The Wii U is in the same league as the 360 and PS3, just less powerful.

I'm fairly sure it's more powerful than the 360 and PS3

Actually, Wii was last.

Of all people i know who's bough one of (or more than one model) of the pre 2011 console generation, the Wii is the one most likely gathering dust in a closet.
It just got boring quickly, except for the hardcore Nintendo fan.

You should know that GPU strength isn't everything. Especially when its CPU can't compete in.. CoD. It probably can't run BF3 at the same level as the PS3, 360.

That's true, mostly because of the lack 3rd part support. I still use it now and then, but with the Wii U having a traditional controller I think it's more likely to last.

Stop judging performance on rushed/lazy 3rd party launch title ports. It's a new system and has signs leading us to believe that it is different. Give the system time to mature, even the person who gave these specs said this:
So yes, the Wii U CPU is nothing to write home about, but don't compare it clock per clock with a 360 and claim it's much worse. It isn't.

I'm fairly sure it's more powerful than the 360 and PS3
In every comparison I have seen between the Xbox, PS3 and Wii U the latter is the worst. Especially when it comes to anti aliasing, or rather the lack of.

Its not the port, because it runs fine when in empty areas but quickly drops to 10fps when in intense combat or places full of other players. That indicates CPU bottleneck.

Two of those are well documented console that have been out for nearly a decade now and therefore can have games optimized to them to hell and back. On the other hand, one is a brand new console that isn't nearly as well documented, and got several direct ports. For example, Assassin's Creed 3, even the devs said it was a direct port from the 360 version, but it still has slightly better lighting as a result of the naturally better hardware (such as significantly more RAM.)
You can't judge the console's graphical potential from ports that weren't even properly optimized.

If you read that article I posted, it says:
The downfall of the GPGPU is that if it’s not being used in the fashion it’s intended to, which means taking on heavy graphical processing and extreme mathematical equations to perform in the game (aka, if you’re not heavily using the GPU and it’s processing), it actually performs slower. So if you run the bare bones through it, throw everything else at the processor, it not only over strains a processor not meant to handle such functions, it actually causes the GPU to under-perform, and as such… create problems. This is chiefly why games like Mass Effect 3 are having issues, and why Batman Arkahm City Armored Edition are having massive frame rate issues.
Again, I'm not saying it's completely true, but it makes sense. Developers are probably not properly optimizing their games for the Wii U. Stop comparing by looking at a 3rd party, most likely rushed port, on an entirely new system that doesn't have as much documentation as it's predecessors.

AC3 looks marginally better on the Wii U because it has decent lighting and shadows
Pepper;38639319']I hope they overhauled the architecture of the chip so it's efficient as fuck.
The PPC750 is bloody ancient. I've actually got a ppc750 chip from a beige powermac from the mid 90's
Yeah, this is the real issue. Not the clock speed, but that they're using an architecture from 1997.
