Hey, the MW2 map-packs were great, they brought back some of my favorite maps. Except for Shipment, those bastards.

Fuck me, but wasn't Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's multiplayer filled with totally free remade maps from Pandora Tomorrow ? They included much more work than the simple ports mw2 offered and were totally free. How about Deus Ex 1 ? A patch that added an entire multiplayer mode ? Super Meat Boy and its new free levelsets ? [editline]1st October 2011[/editline] Left 4 dead 2 and all the content of the first game freely added ? Such petty things as remade maps from previous games should be free, totally damn free, you shouldn't have to pay a quarter of the original game's price just to play one more game in it.
The maps brought back some of the best maps from the first MW, I can't get why people flip their shit about it.
What's the big deal? I see the Hate Bandwagon is already here.
-snip-
not really got a problem with COD but why would I want to drink pepsi, it's shite
The maps brought back some of the best maps from the first MW, I can't get why people flip their shit about it.
oh, that's not what should happen (lists examples from Valve/indie devs)
Paying $15 for something you already own? I would totally "flip my shit" over that.
you make it sound like the DLC is mandatory you're not paying $15 for stuff you already own, because you don't have to? now if Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer maps were ports from previous games that would be different but that isn't the case
Didn't EA do the same thing with the bad company 2 doctor pepper SPECACT promotion? Except the difference there was you flat out couldn't get the items through normal play. I kinda think that's scummier than what activision is pulling here, but I'm not getting modern warfare 3 anyways so this really doesn't affect me.
You could get the weapons through normal play. They were just reskins, with a different player skin if you picked the SPECACT version of them. SPECACT gave you early access to the final weapons for each class (some of which were pointless to have compared to earlier weapons). It was a pretty shit idea to be honest, but it wasn't a massive imbalancer. it only takes a few hours as each class to get their final weapon. Though to be honest tying in video game benefits with junk foods and drinks is a bad idea from the beginning, it really doesn't help the video game industry when everyone and everything is flipping their shit over healthier living. [editline]1st October 2011[/editline]
A BC2 SPECTACT kit gives you the final weapon for their respective class. Imagine a low level player going out to get some Dr. Pepper so he can dominate with the M95 or whatever that high power sniper rifle is.
Dominate and M95 in the same sentence? Lmao. The final guns were usually pretty shoddy, the M95 had a horrendous RoF, low magazine, and was just bulky. The M16a4 (I think) was okay, but earlier guns outdo it, the MG3 is about as overpowered as the final guns were, mainly due to it being fairly accurate for a MG. And the UMP-45 was a bit shit sometimes if you had some other SMGs. They offered a slight advantage, but nothing spectacular.

Here it's just activision milking money out of a franchise where they totally shouldn't do it. I mean it's okay to take money out of a franchise, it's the goal of making video games after all, but there are ways to do it without infuriating people because their policy is basically "more content for the richer". I'm not putting 100 dollars in a single game just because it has 12 more maps including 8 taken from previous games. [editline]1st October 2011[/editline] They just have to add an online pass and shit would be complete

I said this above, don't act as if DLCs are mandatory.
DLCs aren't mandatory.
While that's literally true it's practically not. I couldn't play MW2 multiplayer because like 80% of all players had bought the DLC and played on those maps, meaning it was harder to find anyone to play with.
Wonder how many people are gonna get diabetes because they want their precious xp?... I smell a lawsuit.
