Buying weapons for your nations army is no different to buying anything else at the end of the day. It isn't weird in the slightest to see photos of it happening.

I doubt much purchasing actually gets done there though, if its anything like aviation trade shows all the deal making gets done in advanced and is just announced there in one go just to make the companies look like they are making lots of money.
