Yea I ain't gonna buy any of these until I get a 8K Ultra Wide 4D OLED 240Hz monitor with Super G-Sync, 1080° swivel, coffeemaker, and a free shoulder massage coupon, for max $150.

I honestly don't see much use in this currently. I've got a 290 and a (Korean) 1440p 60hz, I can push every game I own as of now at 60fps with full settings (sometimes with lower levels of AA and without those weird DX11 DOF filters some games offer), but this is something that I can just barely pull off. To get anywhere near 144fps I'd have to murder my settings or buy 1 or 2 more $400 cards. Sort of like UHD displays - I'd love to have one, but nothing short of 2-4 cards could utilize it fully. 1440p at 60fps, however, is absolutely doable and worth it if you have a higher end PC. Monitors keep getting bigger and bigger, but without higher pixel density things start to look like shit. Once you go 1440p you never go back. That said, it's nice that this seems to work as advertised according to the review max posted. I can imagine displays like this will be great for tournaments.
Not sure why did you go 1440p with a 290, it is a pretty fuckin old card I myself went for a 760 and a 1080p 144hz monitor, no regrets o wait it's a r9 290 my bad
Got me a Korean 1440p monitor with an IPS panel and overclocked that one to 96 Hz. Not a bad deal for 300 €. Once you go IPS, you never go back...

I've got an overclocked GTX780 and I can play pretty much everything I have at 2560x1600 at 60fps. I can play with a very solid 60 but there's no way it'd handle 144fps, that tech is a few years away for single GPUs. That being said, I'm sure I could get 144fps at 1920x1200 on most games, I wouldn't mind doing that but unfortunately 1200p isn't very common anymore, and there's no way I'm going down to 1080p.
Because 144hz is only for gaming. Even if you can't push 144fps, you'd still have a smoother desktop experience and if you don't use vsync you'd get less noticeable tearing.
I wish CRTs never died, the problem with flat-screen monitors is you must run them at the maximum resolution or it looks like shit. A CRT from 10 years ago kicks the shit out of even a $600 IPS panel in colour reproduction, black levels, and viewing angles.

EDIT: And I use VSync absolutely everywhere because I hate the feel of a wobbly framerate.
Catleap Q270 master race reporting in. Just kidding, that's my secondary monitor. I run a 39 inch 4K monitor now.
this shill is still around? really?
he is awesome at explaining things very simply and i like his sense of humor along the way.
this shill is still around? really?
The fuck are you talking about
The fuck are you talking about
People sponsor him so he's a shill.
They should stop employing nine-year-olds to design their hardware though.
People sponsor him so he's a shill.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but pretty much every tech review anything is sponsored in some way, whether it's up-front about it like Linus is or not.
Wow I want a 24" 4k monitor for photo editing omg that sounds wonderful
the 60hz dell IPS 4k monitor is stunning, though expensive tn is terrible for photo editing [editline]6th July 2014[/editline]
Aaaaand it's another TN. Yeah not shelling out 800€ for a TN panel.
me neither
I didn't realize how much more difficult 2560x1440 was on the GPU until I tried gaming on it. Luckily, I'm using it for programming primarily, which isn't GPU heavy at all.
Yeah when I upgraded from some shitty dell monitor to my new 1920*1080 monitor I went from getting over 100fps in Natural Selection 2 on max settings to 50-60fps
Eh, it seems every 120 or 144hz monitor has terrible color reproduction, worse than 60hz TN's. If there's an actually good TN or IPS 120/144hz monitor out there I can't find it.
it seems a bit overpriced if they actually sell it for $800 you can get a 4k display for that price now
but can the 4K display run at any higher then 60hz
People sponsor him so he's a shill.
More so talking about his ragging on AMD CPUs and has occasionally discredited good brand stuff such as xfx in favor of corsair. Also note how in his early pre-corsair sponsor videos he always promotes noctua fans, but after corsair nearly never mentions or shows them, but has tons of those color ring corsair fans? I wouldn't mind the amd hate if he wasn't sponsored by intel - the anti amd reel has been downplayed lately which is good. Only ever recommending products from his sponsor is a given, but saying "this other brand sucks! :^(" is a no no. All his videos nowadays are just intel cpu, whatever mobo fits, corsair ram, corsair psu, corsair heatsink/wc, corsair fans, corsair case.
It's awesome except for the elite gamer bullshit stand.

On the AMD vs. Intel issue: His videos are for hardware enthusiasts. He's doing 'ULTIMATE 4K GAMING' and 'ULTIMATE VIDEO EDITING' build videos, not 'AFFORDABLE SFF HTPC' build videos. Intel is by far the de facto performance choice for CPUs at the moment. AMD hasn't been in the performance CPU game since before Bulldozer was released, and Intel has had the head start since the release of the Q6600 a long, long time ago. On the 'discrediting good brands' rag, I've hardly ever seen this. In my experience (about 7 or 8 years of building gaming and multimedia PCs), XFX has been a mid-tier level distributor, OK, but not great. Corsair, on the other hand, has repeatedly proved themselves to be one of the best companies/manufacturers in the game. Corsair PSUs are always rock solid, I've never had a single stick of RAM arrive DoA, and their cases are beautifully built with great accessories. Accuse me of being a fanboy, or selling out if you must, but Corsair really is just that good when it comes down to it. As for your mentioning about the Corsair sponsorship: I have no idea what you're talking about. Corsair fans are great, but in every single build video he's done for a good while now he's been using those BitFenix fans.

My corsair case and cpu cooler are great, but their ram is over priced as all heck and I've had a issue with my corsair keyboard that they refuse to fix. Apparently wrong keycaps is not under their warranty. I have no experience on corsair psus though. i've had a xfx and cm psu and both have been champs though. And no, corsair fans are not anywhere NEAR the godhood that is noctua. My friends corsair fan using rig is loud as fuck, mine is noctua only and whisper quiet - and we got similar thermals with the same gpu (but differing cpu, he is amd i use intel) Seriously. Once you go noctua you wont go back. The awful color scheme is worth it.

AMD CPUs have mostly been delegated to very, very entry-level gaming rigs (the X4) and dirt-cheap HTPC setups or file servers (Sempron). I said that he uses BitFenix fans in his recent builds, not Corsair, which you were implying. [editline]8th July 2014[/editline] Plus, Intel has additional benefits that make it better than AMD for 'affordable' setups, including on-chip graphics, better upgradability, etc.
am I the only one excited for GSYNC?
