The terrorists have won
If any of you are surprised, you shouldn't. Government's been spying on us for over a decade now. Patriot Act ring a bell?
Is it wrong that I honestly don't really give a shit?
Is it wrong that I honestly don't really give a shit?
If you live in Singapore, you probably shouldn't care about US domestic news.
Is it wrong that I honestly don't really give a shit?
You shouldn't really care unless bombmaking is a hobby you share online or something. I'm jealous of the workers who get to rifle through thousands of porn pictures, though.
The "Prism" program. Jesus fuck, it sounds like a government secret from a thriller movie.
Coming this Summer, a Roland Emmerich film. Prism
when are you guys going to have a revolution or something
Probably when the junk food dries up. So never.
when are you guys going to have a revolution or something
never because we're too apathetic to the situation. everybody would rather sit in their recliner, eat potato chips and watch some good ol' murican football. by this point the terrorists have won, we're going back on everything we founded the country on. woo!
Good, you admitted it, that's a start. Now stop doing it.

The U.S. government has been secretly collecting emails, chats and other personal information about foreigners from companies including Facebook, Google and Apple, officials admit. The secret program, revealed at first by the Washington Post and the Guardian newspapers, said the FBI and the National Security Agency can scour data including emails, chats, stored files, video and audio to help analysts track a person's movements and contacts. Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube and Apple are all said to be part of the program —known as Prism. Most have denied giving the government access to their data. Late Thursday, James Clapper, U.S. director of national intelligence, confirmed the existence of Prism and another recently revealed surveillance program — under which Verizon handed over the phone records of U.S. customers — in an effort to tamp down the public uproar. Clapper denounced the leaks, insisting both programs were legal and necessary for U.S. security, even as he took the rare step of declassifying and releasing key details. “The unauthorized disclosure of a top secret U.S. court document threatens potentially long-lasting and irreversible harm to our ability to identify and respond to the many threats facing our nation," he said. "I believe it is important for the American people to understand the limits of this targeted counterterrorism program and the principles that govern its use," Clapper added.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2013/06/07/nsa-internet-surveillance-fisa.html

Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube and Apple are all said to be part of the program —known as Prism
Anyone else just get more suspicious of the Xbox 1 because of this?
when are you guys going to have a revolution or something
When the economy collapses. Pretty much one of the big reasons for the Arab Spring was the severe inflation in food prices just before it started.
oh no, the government knows what pages I like on facebook. this is outrageous
who cares let them degrade my rights i just want to play video games
I don't know why I guffawed so hard as I did.
im tellin u all they are usin this so they can see if we buy guns so then obama can go into your house and take em, im tellin u this is all of our freedum being taken away wow this is horrible, i bet next they will ban the right to free speech Seriously guys, what does this matter? Is this somehow destroying our lives? If so I'd like to know, I don't feel any sort of anger or need to stand up to anyone just by reading whats here.

I see no difference between this, and what i just mentioned, just a different medium in how its done.
And yet the US government is quick to call out other countries for doing bad things. The US does so much shit and thinks that they are still the best country ever. At least so it seems.
And yet the US government is quick to call out other countries for doing bad things. The US does so much shit and thinks that they are still the best country ever. At least so it seems.
Said every country ever.
The government has found a great way to fuck us over. Systematically destroy our lives in ways that we don't necessarily feel the effects of. We're so apathetic that if we don't get put out of our way we're fine with anything.

There is an NSA clerk who has seen way too many dicks
I love how so many people here get up in arms about how much this is pissing them off, and then won't do shit about it beyond post in this thread. So many people pretending that they care and getting mad at those who can actually admit they don't.

I honestly don't see a problem with this. A counter-terrorist tactic used to find terrorists or potential terrorists. Why should I be worried about someone knowing who I call, or what my internet history is. I hate to say it but your internet activity is already out there for people to see, and not just for the government.
People: You better find that needle! Government: Ok People: Wait what are you doing? You can't look in the haystack! Government: ...
It is amazing that Congress has been approving this for years and that none of them have leaked this. You'd think the Libertarians and Tea Party people would have leaked this by now to condemn the government. Imagine how much Ron Paul would have benefited from this had this leaked while he was still running against Romney and Santorum, a year ago. Also, this whole thing just makes me distrust Libertarians even more. The ones who must have known about this said nothing. Why is it that American Libertarians seem to make up problems by speaking against women, abortion, and welfare, and yet did not talk about PRISM? It is hypocrisy.
"Counterterrorism" I can't stop laugh
So they gather information about foreigners and this is a massive infraction of American rights somehow? Okay. [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] This is no different from typical spying, except now they use their new tools on hand.
The U.S. government has been secretly collecting emails, chats and other personal information about foreigners from companies including Facebook, Google and Apple, officials admit.

"Counterterrorism" I can't stop laugh
What?? Everyone knows Windows and Facebook is the #1 terrorist OS and social platform of choice
who cares let them degrade my rights i just want to play video games
This has nothing to do with your rights, governments have historically used spying techniques that they haven't utilized on their people, this is normal, and this is a typical sensationalized article attempting to elicit a reactionary and outraged response.
"Counterterrorism" I can't stop laugh
Fight terrorism with terrorism.
