yea really curious what this actually is since it has that many big names attached
At least the Nike Air Mags with auto lace are coming out next year, but they will be very limited.

that's not necessarily the sign of a big product, only a big budget, which can be HORRIBLY MISGUIDED as demonstrated by this feature length animated movie, starring Charlie Sheen, Hillary Duff, Eva Longoria, Wayne Brady and Christopher Lloyd

however I think it wouldn't be out of the question that this could be the start of a viral campaign for a back to the future reboot

At least in Foodfight it was very clear what they were advertising. Here, I honestly don't have a clue what this could be for. I mean, you'd think they would at least put ads on the page, but even those are missing, and google ad revenue from the video isn't going to pay the production costs by itself I'm sure.

We don't speak of that monstrosity sir.

in the very least, it could just be a fun little thing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie
Why do people not see this as fun? I like the fact that they tried to make it modern and edgy in the trailer, to make it as realistic as possible.
It's quite clearly fake, but the effort behind it and for some people the "Oh i get it" is part of the fun
Because it's pointless
Because it's pointless
Don't be pissed just because it made you feel dumb.
While neat, it's definitely marketing something else. Maybe a back to the future reboot or spin-off? It's too much work for a joke. It'll go viral for sure, but for what reason other than to show off neat cgi?
but for what reason other than to show off neat cgi?
they did the same rigging erasing we've done for eternity and in one scene used the same (slightly smudgy) airbrushing techniques that made the landspeeder hover in the first star wars

Well now I know how podracers work. :v:
This makes me really mad. I don't like this at all. Are they really trying to fool anyone? Fuck anyone who took part on this bullshit.
I'd hate to see how mad you get when someone actually does something wrong
No doubt that the video in the OP is fake.
Although, I remember seeing a hoverboard-esque device in an episode of Vsauce2's Mind Blow a while back. (Skip to about 3:20)

Not really a hoverboard per-say, but still, it's an interesting idea.
It looks like the dude at 3:06 isn't even touching the ground with his foot when he is "pushing" himself along.
Hover shoes, duh.
Tony Hawk looks so old but this voice still sounds like a teenager/20 year old.

Landspeeder
If technology like this really existed, the entire world would treat like revolution as it did with 3d printing and self driving cars. It could remodel almost every mode of transport that exists. Might not even need boats anymore if it works on water.
They probably wouldn't announce this technology with hoverboards referencing a movie series, although that's a good way to spread the word.
Good thing they made a YouTube video demonstrating the use of the technology rather than patenting the technology and explaining how it works in a scientific journal. Otherwise we might not believe that it's real.
There's absolutely no way that this can be real. The editing is bad, there's obvious flaws in the methods they used to fake it, and so on. The fact that there are celebrity appearances just points to it being an ARG or a promo for something like a BTTF remake or another BTTF movie.
Holy shit.
Tony... what the fuck did time do to you.

Well if it bothers you, Christopher Llyod's here, just have him travel back in time and get a fresher Tony

You know a lot of people are going to believe this right? I just hate how they create a fake company and bring a lot of well-known actors to advertise a fake product and do not make it clear it's fake. I hope it's actually a publicity stunt on a movie or something instead of just a viral to make ad money.
If they just sold replicas of the movie board that would be pretty rad.
The CGI isn't even that good, the shadows one the people riding the boards are hard...like completely.

And? If anyone does believe it, it's their fault for being such a gullible pile of silly in the first place. It's pretty obvious to anyone who didn't drop out of school we don't have the technology for anything like this.
Don't blame the creators, the problem usually lies in the users/ viewers.
This would be the most amazing thing in the world if it was real.
Oh well, maybe someday it will be a reality to have hoverboards.

You guys realize you're all probably generating views and free buzz for some viral marketing bullshit, right?

That was established 7 hours ago, the question is for what. And I wouldn't call this bullshit, this was a brilliant publicity. Could have been perfect if they caught that shadow.

no this is definitely real
Holy fuck Tony Hawk REALLY looks old.
