That's not how America works, we don't revoke voting privileges because you personally don't like the candidate. You should consider informing people of Santorums ass-backward view of politics and how they shouldn't vote for him.
At least, that's what we used to do.
Won't work. These people are as closed minded as you can get.
then that's the choice of the voters, it's how a democracy works
If you think the US is a democracy, you're really ignorant.
A democracy states that the people choose what happens. When have the people been called to vote on things such as the legalisation of abortions, the passing or not of laws such as SOPA, etc.?
All those things are decided by a few hundred people, those people are people who want to be politicians, and the common people who will be affected have no say in it.
I am in no way an anarchist, but you can't tell me that the current political system is actually democratic. Especially in the US.

What you're speaking of is called "direct democracy" meaning that every single citizen would be obliged to cast their vote in exactly every decision, and you can clearly see why that wouldn't work out. In the western world we have mostly representative democracy ie we choose people to represent our political beliefs. I agree with you though that the American system is massively flawed.

You shouldn't be forced to vote, but you should still be able to vote on something like, something recent such as SOPA.
I applaud these men.
I live here. This makes me sad that there are this many stupid people surrounding me everyday...
I wish they had held hands on the way out
I feel compelled to bring a friend to a right-wing event and make out with him mid-event as an act of peaceful protest.
That was fucking metal man
I disagree, but I will untill my death, defend your right to say so.
Voltaire
on note: Santorum's fucking insane
That is used to some degree in Switzerland, and the country probably has the best form of government in the world.
I'll add that there are ministers but no president (actually one of the minister is the president too but it doesn't give him/her more power). And these minister aren't directly elected by the people so it prevent things like stupid people voting or not voting for someone because of their ethnicity or gender.
Although it's not perfect I have to admit this system is one of the best.
Biggest balls in the room
And they are all the more fabulous for it :v:
I'm typically pretty apathetic about alot of the crap or non sense in politics, even the politics going on in my own country. But bigots and extreme-traditionalists like Santorum grind my fucking gears because I cannot understand his thought processes when he speaks, never mind forms the opinions he has.
I mean to pick one example, banning homosexual sex. Really? Fucking really? How does that affect him in the slightest (In before Closeted Joke) and how is that, as an "Issue" ever going to be beneficial to the USA to pass as law? How would it be enforced? I mean c'mon Dick, you gotta think this shit through if you are appealing to the "smart" and "Elite" or are you just pandering to ignorant bigots like yourself?
I'm more interested in the fact that he says that if they have national healthcare they'll be dependent on the government for their life, however I'd say that is far better than having my life dependent on insurance companies.
I wonder if the WBC is voting for Santorum?
Many countries in Europe have a load of citizens who are xenophobic and would carry out acts of violence over things like their native languages and petty ethnic rivalries. (i.e. polish people find an Englishman, proceed to kick his ass)
Don't at like it's just America.

Please....
Well of course it is, it's better than those damn commie Europeans with their crazy socialism.
"he believes in an America that is ruled by those in authority….taking money from some giving it to those who know better…who are the planners, who are the smart people, the elites in society, the ones who went to the best schools, the ones who come from the right families. And those are the ones that are going to allocate the resources in this country.”
Isn't that the way it works at the moment?
Please....
Where does it say that?
and yet you call for revoking the basic right of voting of americans
Which has clearly proven to be a terrible plan.
We need a test that determines if you have sufficient knowledge of politics to vote. It shouldn't be difficult, just hard enough that majority of people will fail if they don't study for a bit beforehand.
There needs to be a minimum entry requirement.
We are a Republic and not a Democracy BECAUSE people are fucking morons. We need to accept this and then figure out how to work with it instead of blindly pursuing completely open voting. Open voting has proven time and time again to be a terrible plan.
Keeping in mind that the country isn't even supposed to be as democratic as it is now. Senators and the President AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE. Senators and Presidents are supposed to be determined by the states because we recognized from a very early stage that average citizens were less than reliable for choosing good politicians. The end result was a brilliant government that was a hybrid of the people's direct interests (the house) and the interests of the governments of the people (the senate) that is all kept in check by the President who is a hybrid of the two. The Senate existed so that popular opinion following things like 9/11 wouldn't directly plunge us into conflict. The Senators were elected by state governments, not directly by the people, so they could afford to do what was best for the people, even if the people didn't care for it.

Sounds like a fairly elitist voting system.
I wonder if the WBC is voting for Santorum?
They wouldn't vote for him unless he planned to make homosexuality punishable by death and invade any country that accepted it.
ya, and homos shouldn't be allowed to vote in this democracy either!
you realize how stupid it sounds now right?
Pretty sure it was a joke, bro.

But then why would citizens be any more capable of choosing Representatives than they would Senators or the President?

You say that like it's a bad thing.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
Well it is, people should be allowed to decide who will lead over them.

Inaccurate. You say anything bad about Coca Cola in the south and you're liable to be shot.
