Labour - "We will guarentee every under 25 year old a job - and we'll pay for it"

in my eyes all the parties are pretty shit but Labour is the least worst.
I hate people who oppose the cuts because they don't understand that cuts have to be made. Labour got us far into debt by spending fuck-tons of money on places that didn't need it and now we're in the position where The coalition are making cuts to bring the budgets of these places back down to a sensible level.
They're also making cuts where the money is actually needed - case in point, the Humberside police force are being cut drastically
I'm pretty sure broken promises are what got the current government hated by every single person.
That and privatising/trying to privatise/destroying every single fucking public service.
I would love to see where they would get the money for this.
Oh that's right, they would just borrow it.

What have they privatised?

The national transport system, and that's brought it down from acceptable to the worst in Europe, by a longshot. We pay over twice the price you'll pay in a decent European country, for a significantly worse service that is rarely on time. The parody song "London Underground" is sadly accurate.
Also, the coal and steel industries, too, both of which were basically destroyed by it, being brought down from a respectable size to tiny little things.
Now there's the health and social care bill or whatever it's called, which is all about "promoting competition" and the like, and most of the royal colleges of nurses, midwives, GPs e.t.c all oppose it for good reason.

Privatisation is not the current governments policy however. And the Health and Social Care Bill is merely increasing competition into the NHS which is to be caped at a certain percent (something I am personally apposed to.) It is not privatisation though.
It is also important to remember that coal and steel industries were highly unprofitable at that time.

Nope, they just find a way to justify increasing taxes somewhere or creating a new form of tax to pay for it. It will be like any other idiot public works program where it sucks money out of the economy and is given to other people with no regulation on the specific uses for it.
The U.S. had cash for clunkers, which worked for like a week until car manufacturers jacked up their prices to offset the money the government subsidized to make it cheaper. We also had two years of reverse income tax, which was basically worthless money.
Which is a shame because she was a nice woman, she invited him round for tea after that and admitted she felt sorry for him
Yeah she was still a bigot though, unfortunately not even tea could cure that.
All this cutting is just going to cause us trouble later down the line, New Labour had the right ideas but sadly Gordon, while a great policy maker, was not very good at winning the people over, which is certainly shown in the whole "bigoted woman" incident.
I don't know why people hated Gordon so much, I thought he was fine. I guess charisma means more than competence when it comes to politics...

Gordon Brown sold all of our gold when it was worth a really low amount.
I can't wait for them to break this promise and fuck my generation over. Again.
How did they fuck over your generation the first time?
Gordon Brown sold all of our gold when it was worth a really low amount.
This is the only thing anyone ever manages to fault him on.
Rampant spending and borrowing because we'd "BEATEN BOOM AND BUST LOL". Which was a major contributor to the factors leading up to the cuts we're having to deal with now.
Labour already had ideas for making up for the spending that didn't involve cutting everything into oblivion. These cuts are just going to force a later government to spend rampantly again to fix the mess the Conservatives will undoubtedly create with their reckless cuts.

They won't borrow it.
They'll just use the money the conservatives have basically stolen from cuts.
there are plans to privatise parts of the police force.
in what way is that not worrying

Such as? Were they as good as the idea to sell all of our reserves?
And how are these cuts 'reckless' when:
1. They are working.
2. Various financial organisations (like the IMF) approve of them.
They won't borrow it.

Are you being serious?
Firstly, where do you think they will get the money from? There is no spare cash at all. They would either have to make cuts to other services (something they criticise) or they would have to borrow more money.
Secondly, are you seriously suggesting the Conservatives are secretly siphoning all the money made from the cuts to their own bank accounts?
there are plans to privatise parts of the police force.

I have never said that it's not worrying. However, this is hardly the same as the Conservatives privatising everything - which so many people claim.
i don't know how anyone can argue that tory cuts are what we need when the economist, the newspaper flagship for capitalist thinking, stated that osborne is an idiot and we need more gradual easing and growth generation, not austerity

the guiding hand of the free market will ensure minorities are appropriately profiled

Whilst the IMF approves of the current measures...
Whilst the IMF approves of the current measures...
of course they would. they're an organisation dedicated to being against free-marketism. they'd rather you cut back, spend nothing and devalue currency than actually work towards a solution that is beneficial to real people, rather than just to the benefit of hypothetical money

1. Do you have anything to back any of these claims up?
2. Even if it is true, does this make the IMF any less of an authority on financial management?
did you miss the whole privatisation scandal?
did you miss the whole privatisation scandal?
I don't know what your ideal solution would be, but if you're siding with Labour then I suggest you read their alleged 'plans' which consist of nothing but spending money they do not have, ignoring the deficit and hoping it fixes itself.
And could you care to explain the issue with privatising parts of the NHS?
my ideal solution would be to murder all members of parliament and install a direct communist democracy.
Do you see, Republicans? Do you see? This is what real, honest to goodness democratic socialism looks like. Universal healthcare does not a socialist party make!
my ideal solution would be to murder all members of parliament and install a direct communist democracy.
We could do without the murdering, I think.
We could do without the murdering, I think.
well otherwise they'd just stink up the place really

Communism sucks, we need absolute monarchism.
Communism sucks, we need absolute monarchism.
Oh god it'll be another English civil war.
Fuck that, we need an anarcho-syndicalist commune.

Bang on Ed, we'll use all that spare cash we have lying arou-
Oh wait. Prat.
The idea of Labour raising money from bankers bonuses is laughable.
how did this thread go from job creation to murdering politicians?
[editline]18th March 2012[/editline]
now that i think about it that doesnt sound so unreasonable
