You cannot deny the similarities based on appearance.
but dude one is holding a cellphone while the other is pointing up, should be easy to discern
You think some racist redneck can tell the difference between one "towel head" and another?
it's funny because muslims don't wear turbans , only sihks do.
I like how you're showing an obvious example on how a word has changed meaning; yet you refuse to accept that the population of the South views the definition of redneck as a completely different view from your middle-aged definition. This is a case where the word has in fact almost made a full turnaround in meaning; it does in fact mean southern rural folk today, many of which hunt, chew tobacco, etc, many of which today aren't racist, uneducated, inbred hicks.
EDIT:
Hell, just listen to any country song. A quarter of them refer to themselves as rednecks and I'm pretty positive that they're not insulting themselves.
Fellow SC'er here. Redneck still means uneducated hick who usually acts like an idiot. No one usually calls them that as a derogatory name, just used as description when talking about them to your friends. Of course, it also appears to be a lifestyle with items marketed toward 'rednecks' (also Jeff Foxworthy). Though, the ones I know personally who fit the lifestyle, but not the uneducated or idiotic (usually) meanings, refer to themselves or each other as 'country boys'.
As for country songs... I grew up with a household full of country music. I don't remember any song with 'redneck' in it. Except Jeff Foxworthy. Anything in the last couple years I don't know because we have considered it 'not country'.
Oh. Farmers are farmers or 'country folk'. I don't know of any being called rednecks. As for them being educated... that's a bit of a stretch. I consider those of the Midwest to be educated. Here, they may be wise in their farming knowledge, but you'd be lucky to find one who's completed 3rd grade. No real fault of theirs. Schools are still a bit rare out in the country (same with any other basic utility), though I think their children are getting a better opportunity.
I love the Sikh! They are the most courteous people in the world, and a lot of them are the awesomest cab drivers on the west coast, they're really fun to talk to.
every time I hear about a racially motivated crime it almost always involves the southern states. Why do you have to be so mean southern states of north america.

Some Muslims do, but I think they tie it differently.

Huh. That's weird. Most of the people in the Midlands refer to themselves as rednecks if they hunt, chew tobacco, etc. That's what I was trying to get at though, it's more of a lifestyle now than uneducated hick.
Also, according to the USDA 44% of farm workers attend some sort of college (http://www.ers.usda.gov/publications/eib24/eib24c.pdf). Yeah, there's quite a few that are uneducated (35.5% of limited resource farmers, for example), but there's also a ton that did go to college. Most of the non-educated ones are the older farmers (or the ones that are historically family farms), but there is a trend of farmers becoming very educated. The main thing that made me angry is that he made it seem like just because that guy was from AZ means that the South is a heavily racist area and he would've been uneducated.
It goes hand in hand with being conservative and relatively uneducated along with coming from an area of the United States where racism is most prevalent.
He had no indication from the article that this man was any less educated or a conservative besides from the region he came from. Hence why it seems like he was calling the South an uneducated, racist, and conservative region when clearly it's not.
They are quite different, SIkhs wear a (usually brightly coloured) dastar which looks different to a headwrap some Muslims wear.
There's more differences as well.
uh the headwrap thing has absolutely NOTHING to do with Islam. The only people who wear it are arabs or southern-eastern asians, due to cultural reasons -- not religious.

Ah, that explains a lot. I tried to find a reason why they wear them and I couldn't, explains why.
The ones who associate turbans and beards with islam are ignorant. The suburb where I live is full off immigrant population, especially muslims. I've lived here my entire life and I have NEVER seen anyone wear a turban while having an unshaved beard. The ones who do this are Talibans in Afghanistan, not the generic muslim.

You mean killing a person because he was wearing a turban and bragging about it isn't indication enough that he's a complete degenerate? You've taken everything I've said and worked it around in a way so that it seemed like I was talking about the entire Southern United States when really it was about ONE person.

No, you worded it like it was because he was relatively uneducated, conservative, and from an area where racism "is most prevalent," and I was trying to explain that it wasn't the truth.
Maybe I took what you were saying too literally. I do agree that he's a degenerate, it's just your wording made it sound like you were talking about it being because he was from the Southern US and because he wasn't educated, which is entirely not true, as honestly some of the uneducated people you'll meet are the nicest, and while I do agree that a lot of the conservatives today are absolute morons, the people who actually stand by the parties principals (downsized government, strong military), aren't necessarily pushing military because they're hate-mongering. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I'm Sikh
proud of it, we're all bros
especially the jatt caste, so chill take it easy
The problem is not that he was confused for a muslim, the problem is some faggot decided to kill people who had nothing to do with 9/11.
Oh great another person throwing around the word faggot.
Everyone chill, we're all acting biased towards each other by saying the other person is biased. A lot of southern folk are cool, but the crazy bastards that make 1% of that section of the U.S. tend to kill people because they look like something they hate.
So please, stop arguing.
I like having friends from different countries, like my friend from Pakistan. His dad owns a small shopping mart with a gas station out front, and when Hurricane Irene was here, every gas station around had closed their pumps except my friend's dad, so he raked in all the money. It was also pretty funny when my friend jokingly said he was pissed because the SEAL team killed his idol when he found out Osama was killed.
The sikhs actually gives free vegetarian food here in Singapore on weekends. Sikh are known to keep beards. Muslims sometimes do keep beard but it is not a necessity to grow a long beard.
I'll be honest, I'd still be bitter about it.
I think he provides a good example, honestly. A lot of people would be calling for blood and revenge (and some do, unfortunately), but he has moved on and put things in perspective.
every time I hear about a racially motivated crime it almost always involves the southern states. Why do you have to be so mean southern states of north america.
Actually Arizona is part of the southwest, not the south. Along with Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and I think Nevada, too.
near vancouver lol
Let me guess, Surrey? :v:
As much as terrorism is awful due to its sheer level of damage and loss of life, I think racism is a far bigger blight on the world.
Actually Arizona is part of the southwest, not the south. Along with Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and I think Nevada, too.
I think when you look at American states from an outsider perspective the south is anywhere south, the north is anywhere north and the pacific mid west confuses everyone.
Let me guess, Surrey? :v:
Haha no, small town about 5 hours away from Surrey. I have family there though.

I don't speak it very well either, but I can have a pretty basic conversation. I can understand a lot better than speak though.
