I've played a MOBA type of game on mobile before called Solstice Arena and it was done pretty well.
I'll play it if they drop the runescape control scheme and let me use WASD
Try Smite. It's awesome.
They should work more on CP2033 then
Team Black are working on Cyberpunk and literally nothing is going to change that unless the company randomly shut down.
A garbage community means the game is shit when said game completely revolves around multiplayer and community.
Uh except it doesn't revolve around having to interact directly with the community? I mean just look at the competitive scene, I don't really see them complaining about the game itself being bad because of the retards that play it elsewhere.
And its pretty easy to, you know, have friends to play with if it is that big a deal. The game does not revolve around the community
Heh, a bit unexpected. With The Witcher 3 in its final development stages I don't see any reason to care too much about it.
CDPR has previously licensed odd spinoff games, like that mobile one: http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/The_Witcher:_Crimson_Trail
people always talk about moba communities being so bad but that's literally every game, it's more noticeable in team games like mobas because people are required to try and work together
also because people just like to repeat what they heard
yeah no the lol and to a lesser extent dota communities are fucking trash
yeah no the lol and to a lesser extent dota communities are fucking trash
i play a lot of mobas and i can honestly confirm this
playing mobas without friends is a death sentance for any fun you'll have
tbh, I play a lot of league (and sometimes DOTA), and the communities are pretty shitty in a lot of aspects (dunno much about DOTA's, but I'm guessing it's the same).
I think the biggest reason why there's a ton of toxicity is because of how insanely fucking popular League and DotA are compared to other gaming communities, so there's a bunch more shit-talking players and such. Not to mention, MOBA's are super team-dependent games, which is a terrible fucking idea to play with strangers over the Internet. Even though the community is rather shit, I still love playing League and DotA, because I just enjoy how the game works.
however, in higher MMR (like Diamond I and Challenger), I'd guess that the toxicity dies down a lot. obviously, it's not like it's going to be non-existent, but it's probably better than lower ELO.
Is a MOBA an RTS where you only have one unit?
As others have said, it keeps the other staff working while the current game is polished. Plus, it is a potential source of continuing income with the in game transactions which will benefit the studio as long as it keeps an audience. I'm interested in how they'll freak with latency since I imagine a lot of people might be playing on their networks as opposed to through wifi.
Is a MOBA an RTS where you only have one unit?
No although some people accuse MOBAs of cannibalizing the RTS genre.
It isn't a phenomena unique to video games, every industry is filled with "me toos" who follow whatever the big thing happens to be. In the video game industry though it just appears far more apparent because the barrier of entry is low compared to other sectors.
I'd say it's the opposite. It looks worse with video games because with every other medium the big companies try to be subtle about copycatting, leaving the blatant ripoffs to be made by nobodies. In Gaming the big companies are usually the least subtle copycats and have been rushing out clones faster and faster with each fad.
Shockingly, something can be popular and still be shitty too.
-snip-
Literally every MOBA i've seen has been a clone of LoL in terms of the art style and the UI, with the exception of Dota 2 and HoN. Let's see if this one is any different.
MOBA's are literally all terrible.
MOBA's aren't terrible. It's just terrible that there are so fucking many of them and they're all the same shit.
Dota 2 and LoL are enough. Both are well played, great quality-wise and are already established.
There is no need for additional games of this kind.
ever play a F2P game?
you should try it. especially when someone with ungodly high latency fucks everything up and calls you a faggot in another language you dont understand.
yeah this is pretty much a two way street.
I had quite a few hundred hours on G1's APB: Reloaded server before Hoplon decided they had to enforce their contract and kick us from there, and americans were just as dumb as russians or brazillians or whatever, the big difference is that they cursed at me in english when I tried to offer a path that wasn't "jump face-first into the enemies weapon" or "give all of our objective items to the enemy". Woopity-fucking-do.
I can pretty much guarantee you that you played with quite a few Brazillian and Russian people and didn't even notice.
That and our latency is only ungodly when you get someone that is downloading a fuckton of porn. 120ms is ok-ish for pub games.
