Where would it ever be possible to get attacked in such a way anyway? Most sites uses a restriction on amount of times a password attempt can be tried with stuff like captcha. And other sites have other means of protection (like steam guard). Only low quality sites if any sites would allow something to attempt to enter a password to a account 1000 times a second.
in order to figure out my password, you have to familiarize yourself with the phrase "Iron and Copper" [sp] i hope someone gets my deus ex reference [/sp]
Don't think you know something about the Lady I don't.
Not if you use punctuation. Can a dictionary attack predict a comma between two words with no real reason to be there? Thought so.
If it was told to try different combinations of punctuation as well, yes.
I didn't expect trustno1. Sounds like a reasonable password.
Wasn't that Mulder's password in an episode of X-Files? [editline]21st November 2011[/editline] I am really surprised people are stupid enough to still use password and 123456
I use fictional words that I made up
Wouldn't the latter one be extremely susceptible to a dictionary attack I mean if they were just doing a brute force attack it would take forever, but running through a bunch of common words is going to get you a higher yield of correct passwords
you'd have to run through a looooooong list of words that list would be longer than the list of allowed characters in a password (unicode i think) which is why words would actually be more secure if you've got 4 or 5 of them
I only care about one account and that is my steam account so I'm ignorant and use variations of the same password for everything but my steam account and google account
like facepunch?
I said shitty forum sites and if you think FP is one of them I think you better re-examine yourself.
My passwords look like this
h'LNxbU7kV@*y,.Wh,JoILemWxqgU'_Ai_kR'9h'{)l)=$^{"[QKrc>k^'vU@+!r+wq_!LmiB\VpDp9'
and i keep them in KeePass
Why bother? You're better off making a really long password from a sequence of words or a sentence.
Don't most sites NOT allow the use of space, or is that only a few?
I remember one of my first online passwords. I was young and oblivious, and so decided that "$$$" was the best password ever. Surprisingly I never had any problems.
I remember my password for my first e-mail account was lionking91.
my first password for email was notawizard11 which actually now that I think about it isn't a terrible password
What moron uses passwords like these?
IIRC; my brother uses passwords like "indians" and "akron95"
That is only safe if they're not doing a dictionary attack. If they use a dictionary attack that will be cracked within seconds
Yeah because it takes seconds to try half the possible 4-word combinations in the english language, right?
