I'm so outraged! All I can say is... is... So what? Who cares? It's a minute clerical change to accommodate same-sex couples with children. How dare they not hold your relationship as a golden example of moral perfection, right?
What about kids with 3 or more parents or parents of a different species?
Also, I love how you just jumped the old "This means people will marry their pets herpderp" argument. I thought that died years ago.
This is a good thing. I'm pretty sure that "parent" don't have to be a biological parent those their sex can vary.
Did they really have to do this?
Yes. This affects your life in absolutely no meaningful way whatsoever. Deal.
Oh god tiny things are being changed on paper all of our rights are being violated oh fuck oh fuck we're gonna be poor of course, I'm sure Limbaugh will find a way to make people think they're being forced to audibly call their parents "parent 1" and "parent 2" or something, then throw a joweled temper tantrum full of illegible vowels to make his point more infuriating.
Also this is retarded. It's like instead of saying he or she, you call them IT.
How is this retarded? Tell me what two male or two female parents are supposed to do on the existing passport applications.
I haven't heard of anyone with neutral gender before. Even for transexuals they are either recognized as a man or a woman. There's no middle ground.
Some people are born with both. That's the middle ground. This is a good way to go, and I'm sure will help solve a lot of problems. It'd be like if the only categories on the form were either 'White' or 'Black' for race when there is much more to it then that.
Why do they need to number them?
What about kids with 3 or more parents or parents of a different species?
what if you were born in the wild and were mothered by wolves WHAT IF YOU ARE SECRETLY A COCKROACH?
I just, *Facepalm* Did they really have to do this?
It's for the gays. [editline]7th January 2011[/editline]
I would say it is a bit more convenient. Other than that, with some same-sex couples with adopted children it would lead to a lot of confusion. What's the big deal?
The pitcher is the father.
They already do this on some things. This isn't news.
Oh, see those who didn't read obviously rated dumb. This is in support (read: to make compatible) of same-sex families.
It's for the gays.
Not really. It's for the people who aren't male or female. or who don't want to subscribe to a particular gender stereotype.
Oh, see those who didn't read obviously rated dumb. This is in support (read: to make compatible) of same-sex families.
I rated Glaber dumb, not the article. Same can probably said of most of the people who rated that. In case you didn't read 90% of the comments in this thread.
Why do they need to number them?
Would you prefer "Parent A" and "Parent B"?
Not really. It's for the people who aren't male or female.
Huh.
This is perfectly fine.
Would you prefer "Parent A" and "Parent B"?
I would prefer Parent [editline]7th January 2011[/editline] and nothing else
Fox News, all they can do is cry. They should just go home and cry to their parent 1's.
I would prefer Parent [editline]7th January 2011[/editline] and nothing else
How do you feel about renaming Gingerbread men as "Gingerbread Persons" or Snowmen as "Snowpeople."
How do you feel about renaming Gingerbread men as "Gingerbread Persons" or Snowmen as "Snowpeople."
You are comparing cookies and piles of snow to official government forms
You are comparing cookies and piles of snow to official government forms
woah are you saying that cookies and piles of snow don't deserve rights?
strange that they supply no source for something "definite"
woah are you saying that cookies and piles of snow don't deserve rights?
Yes
How do you feel about renaming Gingerbread men as "Gingerbread Persons" or Snowmen as "Snowpeople."
if it makes you happy sure why not
A rather good idea, really.
Since gay parents can never be a "mother" or "father", and just "parent #1" and "parent #2", that means they have to argue who is going to be 1st and 2nd. Thats like whos going to ask who is the catcher or the pitcher. FOX: Gay divorces on the rise!
Parent A and Parent 1 would be better I believe.
Yes
woooah! this is how holocausts get started!!
The pitcher is the father.
The catcher is the one who bends over for gays?
The catcher is the one who bends over for gays?
it is a gay analogy in the first place.
