I'm gonna be a cynic here and say that unless valve standardizes the hardware or companies finally decide to make actually cheap steam machines then this is not going to work as well as planned I understand the whole free market idea of letting companies build and sell their own steamboxes but they price them like pre-built pc's so in the end you're just buying a small form factor (or not in some cases) pc with a fancy linux distro

They're just empty cases with the LED's turned on. The hardware inside them isn't final and many of them probably don't even have names or designations yet. Just be glad they had a show this year and gave out something people wanted to see.

I think I'm just gonna get a silverstone GD05 and back away. Though if the the Steam Machine's don't die off I might get one when my current rig is obsolete in a few years.

Only sporting integrated graphics though.[/QUOTE] It's looks like a Gigabyte Brix Pro which has the Iris Pro, fast enough for anything that isn't a big budget game (If Gigabyte can make that model cheap enough it could be great for a cheap gaming machine).
