Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson expected to be named Trump's Secretary of State

Reminder that ExxonMobil has a mutli-hundred-billion dollar deal with Russia for oil drilling, but that is currently being stopped due to the sanctions against Russia over Crimea.
I'm sure it will be merely a coincidence when those sanctions get immediately lifted by Trump. #draintheswamp
I wonder how much money Trump will make from being President
Exxon lobbied against clean energy, right? Did they pay money for this position?

Can someone confirm to me if this is is illegal? If one pays for a position, that doesn't necessarily mean they have the right to the job, right? It would fall under bribery and is illegal, right? If that's true, can someone order something like a writ of mandamus?
Unless they lobbied for the position. That sounds like a loophole that's there.

Now we're a corporate swamp. Awww yeeee
and after those 4 years you find that there's really nothing left to wake up to
If someone makes a movie where totally-not-Trump wins, the main character falls in to a coma for 4 years, and wakes up to a mad max style apocalypse, I'm so watching it.
Man, what the fuck.
good lob lads
instead of the candidate who gets money from lobbyists, why not just cut out the middleman and just elect the lobbyists themselves
I wouldn't get too worried. Yet, since
The sources cautioned that nothing is final until the president-elect officially announces it, likely next week.

Of course, if it happens, it is absolutely bonkers.
Al Gore save us
I wouldn't get too worried. Yet, since
I'd argue the opposite since this is perfectly in line with what Trump has filled his personal swamp with thus far.
I usually hate it when people point it out, but this time I'm going to do it because I think it has to be said. Note the lack of Trump supporters defending barely any of these recent cabinet picks.
There is no way to twist an oil magnate with a questionable history and no political experience appointed as sec of state into a good thing.
Can't the Democrats just filibuster his stupider picks? After all the Republicans just barely have a majority in the Senate.
I wonder how much money Trump will make from being President
whatever he's doing is probably an investment. The money he'll make and connections/power he'll gain/retain will be most prominent post-presidency

But they're going to be flammed by everyone!
They didn't had a problem defending this idiot during the election, when everyone and their grandmas pointed out how he was a really fucking terrible choice. They didn't had a problem rubbing their victory on everyone's faces until the shit began to hit the fan.
Idiots, the lot of them
*looks in a mirror at midnight* Ripbillymays Ripbillymays Ripbillymays
It's amazing that my standards are so low that I'm still expecting someone to come in here and defend this
whatever he's doing is probably an investment. The money he'll make and connections/power he'll gain/retain will be most prominent post-presidency
Republicans have a majority of 1 in the Senate that isn't enough to prevent a filibuster.

It's going to be hilarious when everything he invests in tanks with the rest of the nation after his economic policy is enacted
are there really no limitations in place for cabinet member picks?
Can you just go "Yeah no picking my bro Jerry here for Sec of Defense. I know his only qualifications is being a sandwich artist at Subway, but he's a really great guy. Also it's because I lost a beer-pong match." and nobody could say no if you're already pres. elect?
Agatha Trunchbull for Secretary of Education

Joseph Mengele as secretary of health and human services.

They're too busy posting threads that confirm their own personal biases and reading them. They probably think these threads are ~alarmist~ or "just liberals being salty cause they lost lol". They just stick to the constant threads they post about European Muslims or whacky left wing people doing stupid but ultimately irrelevant shit.
They have no argumentative leverage when it comes to defending the course of the next four years of American politics under trump so they just don't bother.

They have to be voted in by Congress just like federal judges do. Could get filibustered I think.
Remember when people were going on about how terrible Clinton was as Secretary of State?
How does this order of warhawk smothered in Putin gravy with a side of oil executive taste?
How is Trump going to possibly win 'round 2'
fucking imagine the riots if he won AGAIN

tbt unless he, during presidency, directly oversees behavior that eliminates poverty, eliminates unemployment, and makes national racism plummet, the only way I see him winning a second time is by cheating.
odds on he might not even care to run a second time unless he develops a taste for power
At least the next 4 years are gonna be an interesting experiment. We get to see what happens to the US economy and all that jazz with a heavily republican president, a republican congress and a republican supreme court.
Let's look at the last time this happened:
Bush administration. 9/11, Recession, trillions of debt, the housing bubble collapse, the bank bailouts
Let's look at the last time this happened before the Bush administration:
The GREAT FUCKING DEPRESSION
Here comes strike 3
I love that Trump is shaking things up and pissing everyone off, I'm all for that, I just want it to stop AT Trump, not extend to every goddamn tree

I guess they've got no obligation to come in here anyways, so it's probably not worth going on and on about, but eh.
Better than more salt Shitposting which basically amounts to 'umad' I suppose.

Can you really blame a terrorist attack like 9/11 on Bush? That seems a bit unfair.
