Portugal didnt legalise drugs, they decriminalised them. Drugs are still illegal, but if youre "caught" with them, you get warnings and then forced to get help. You arent labelled a criminal like in every other country. This is the best drugs policy to follow, and its been proven to work.
Well right, that's the gist of what I mean. Decriminalize hard drugs, legalize soft drugs, that's what I'd prefer.

But then how do you define "hard" and "soft" drugs.
In my eyes, hard drugs includes MDMA, which is one of the least harmful drugs out there... so you can see how that would cause issues.
edit: although I suppose you wont be labelled a criminal either way.. so i guess it doesnt really matter for the "end user".
of course it should taxed and regulated, cartels small and big are taking 100% profit in the parallel economy, taxing will completely destroy cartels, at least with cannabis, they probably sell other stuff like heroin and coke, dunno how what their 'business model' is like in the UK
More money for the state, etc
Pretty sure they made that change already in the 70's/80's. It's probably small fry and thugs selling weed on the street now.
Jesus Christ get a better dealer man, my dealer is a bit of a dong and he's not even that bad
lol its every dealer around here though, sure the weed is on par with the stuff you get in amsterdam but the weights are so fucking shit. You're lucky to get 1.6 for £20 around here and anything above 1.8 is considered to be a luxury
Yeah there is so much potential money to be made from this
But this taxation could end up like cigarettes did and be ridiculously overpriced etc.
It's not like you couldn't grow your own
That's why you do what Portugal did, and legalize all recreational drug use. That way, when an addict goes to the hospital to get help, they won't meet a jail cell, they'll meet what they need, medical help.
Then the cartels will have to fall back on racketeering and human trafficking, arguably easier crimes to stop.
Portugal didn't legalise drugs, they decriminalised drugs, so if you're caught with drugs rather than going to prison you go to rehab instead, and if you refuse rehab you get fined.
Rehab for marijuana, lol
I support this.
richard branson so badly wants a marijuana dispensary wing of virgin, you can tell
its in his eyes

Shit, I won't be complaining.
Rehab for marijuana, lol
I don't think you go to rehab for weed, more for harder drugs, could be wrong though.
Shit, I won't be complaining.
rich people smoking reefer in spaceships
that's the future man
Virgin will buy a planet solely for the purpose of growing weed.
Good God, an [del]MP[/del] (nope, I'm a pleb) businessman with sense? Medals for him.
Another benefit of legalising weed would be the industry it could create. We've all run across stories every now and again about people home-growing it, so how about building some big-ass green houses and cultivating it locally? Another economy, more money, more employment, much cheaper to ship around.
Richard Branson isn't an MP is he?
No but he should be.
No but he should be.
I thought he might have been in the house of lords, which I'm surprised he isn't.

So that's what the Illusive Man smokes.
So that's what the Illusive Man smokes.
yeah, it turns out space-reefer gives you blue-eye instead of red-eye
Considering the majority of cannabis is created by the trade cartels, I doubt they will be destroyed by this. However, it will hurt them significantly, and I'm sure the population would love it.
And yet, plenty of people still buy cigarettes and alcohol. Why would marijuana be any different?
Well those are addictive.

Here's a fun secret about the War on Drugs. That 'parallel economy' isn't parallel at all. The American government, specifically the CIA, has been dealing heroin domestically and abroad since at least Vietnam.
ofc this guy wants to see it legalized, hes got enough money to own get on top of the market lmao

where is the source link OP??
Why is cannabis illegal anyway?
Why is cannabis illegal anyway?
Long story short, paper companies flipped the fuck out because if they made hemp paper than it would be cheaper than regular paper so they made a big disinformation campaign and got it illegalized.
