But how do you make that double standard so easily enforced in non prohibition times? Growing tobacco as far as I know is quite a hard practice.
I can't tell if you're in aus or not cause the flag thing is broken, but cops in aus, at least in sydney where i live, regularly go after low level drug users (i.e weed smokers). Unfortunately we don't have the societal tolerance to weed they do in america, so no one cares that cops take a heavy handed approach to drug use. But really the main reason they'd get away with making it illegal to grow is that australians are apathetic to everything and anything and as a result the government can get away with basically anything. Thats why australia has a reputation for being very restrictive. Because people don't give a shit about their rights.
You're not understanding. The government will tax it a ridiculous amount because they know people will pay it. They can sell for >$20 a gram because PEOPLE WILL PAY FOR IT.
Hahaha are you serious or are you just talking about your government?

I'm in Canada and my cities police policy on weed users is "Ignore them". They take small time dealers down here and there if it's obvious, and they'll try and go for crime rings and drug peddling rings, but they're not really going after users or small time things. Not worth the money or time because recividism rates for this kind of thing are 99% or so I've been told.

I'm serious, and I'm talking about the australian government. Weed is expensive here because people are stupid enough to pay high prices.
It's pretty much $10 a gram here, if you're buying three grams or something you can usually get a deal, though.

That would be fantastic for non smokers like myself :v:
anyone paying more than 30-35$/19-22£ for 3.5 grams is being ripped off, just sayin
It's often the case that freshers will pay marked up prices for drugs. I got a few guys coming up to me on bikes asking me if i smoked weed but their prices were so marked up. they wanted nearly 40 quid for an 1/8th.
