man it is so surreal how fucked up north korea is sometimes i have a hard time even believing it's real. a country where the military routinely executes people for resorting to cannablism, ruled by a psycho family that are borderline worshiped as gods. if there ever is some sort of foreign intervention it'd be really interesting to see the true extent of how fucked it is
But Kim Jong-un doesn't actually run anything. You know that really old and scary looking Korean generals that are always behind him? Those are the guys who run things. Kim Jong-un is just a figurehead for the people to look up to, so they can be kept in control.

Honestly if they have survived that long in North Korea as whatever type of leader they are, they're probably incredibly ruthless people who you don't want to personally fuck with.

Just make some military-grade electromagnets and attack from behind, fill them with medal holes. Their greatest strength will be their downfall

They are probably really smart and cunning and all, but most of those medals are just for show or were given for things they never even did.

By that standard, there is no such thing as a true dictator.
Plus, we don't actually know if Kim is 100% in control, a figurehead or somewhere in between. It's 100% speculation.

They each get a medal each week for not being on the list of those to be executed.
That is how you rank up in NK.
Strange to hear about internal strife in North Korea.
Read title - Thought the war had resumed.
Thank Odin its only internal.

If that's true how do those generals keep from killing each other off? I'm not saying that what you said is false, it just seems unlikely.
Meanwhile, North Korean soldiers in Pyongyang have celebrated leader Kim Jong-un's appointment as the head of the military with mass choreographed dancing.
Mass Choreographed Dancing-based economic structure, never lasts long
A single fire fight with only a score dead is hardly a revolution. At most it was probably the guy's body guards remaining loyal to him to the end, which really isn't any better than those loyal to Kim shooting them.
I was referencing the Arab Spring and its offshoots, dangus! This is reminiscent.

Well, why would they start killing everybody off? They're living the high life, probably even better than Kim Jong-un, and no one in the world even knows who they are. They've got the people under control, the rest of the world is too afraid to take any action against north korea or they just don't care, they've got the military might and brainwashing to put down any rebellion, and a figurehead to blame everything on if it all comes crashing down.
Theres a reason North Korea is still stuck in the 1960s. It's because if theres any major change, that kind of lifestyle would end. Surely you can't think Kim Jong-un believes hes literally a god on earth? He spent a lot of his youth in Europe learning, even if he spent a few years believing it was all western propaganda and lies, it had to have dawned on him at some point that everything hes ever been told when he was in North Korea is bullshit.
But the thing is, I really don't know, you really don't know, no one knows what goes on for sure in North Korea, this is just my opinion from numerous documentaries and studies that I've seen about North Korea.

charlies in the trees ?
How dare he try and defy the mighty best korea!
It would be best for the future of North Korea that the government just collapsed. Any sort of war in NK would lead to a lot of deaths and destruction. Korea should be unified peacefully.
Well, why would they start killing everybody off?
I meant why wouldn't they kill each other off? If there's a bunch of generals that have that power with no one in control it's only natural to assume that there would be a power struggle between them.
They're a bunch of four star generals, not the school PTA.

They could form a junta. It's working out pretty well in Burma. Well, as well as a country run by a military junta can be, at least.
Last year (or year before, I forget) when there was suddenly rumors that Kim Jung-Il was dead, all they talked about was a junta forming and nothing more. Not one guess of any kind of power struggle.
The generals remind me vaguely of the System Lords for some reason.

Yeah, but with NK's locked down totalitarian regime it seems likely that they would be able to cooperate enough to start anything. I mean their houses and barracks are almost certainly bugged, I just don't see it happening. Although I guess we don't know enough about anything in North Korea to rule that out.
North Korea just doesn't seem like the type of country I could see run by a military dictatorship in its current form. But nobody really knows jack shit about Best Korea so who knows what could happen over there.

I don't think SK would want to take over NK, not right away. NK's economy is almost non-existent, its people are unfed, uneducated, and unskilled. Trying to bring all that into SK at once would flood their economy with people who are unable to adapt quickly enough and would become a massive burden on SK's economy. The best thing to do would be to keep them separate, but try to get them up to speed themselves with international assistance before allowing them to fully unite.

Though that may be the best way, I don't think it's the most plausible way. I can't see a slow merger happening like that in any scenario sadly.
If there's a merger that's going to happen, it would be almost inhumane to keep the NK populace still locked up in NK just to make the unification more easy on SK.

Maybe it is, but where else would they go? You can't just flood SK with refugees, who have no home or skills, many not even able to read, it'd be chaotic and only pull SK down. The best thing to do would be to keep them where they are until we can figure out what to do.

Maybe if you let them move out in a controlled manner. Don't let them just all flood to the border and go into the South, but let certain groups if they want to, head south then after a while move to the next group - and let them all know they'll get their chance if they want. Then after all sections of NK have been given the chance to move around a bit, open the border fully.
That's the best I can come up with at the moment.
