For every piece of elegantly crafted misinformation meant to sway hearts and minds, there is spin so poorly produced that it borders on the absurd. Case in point, a comically bad audio recording released by the Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda on Wednesday of two alleged CIA agents conspiring to bring down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, which crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. Complete with stilted greetings and cumbersome dialogue that sounds like both men are reading from a script, the recording opens with a series of conversations between the two alleged spies, identified as David Hamilton and David L. Stern. Throughout the recording, they discuss “preparations” for an operation that involves shooting down a plane with a surface-to-air missile and an eventual Plan B, which involves placing a bomb inside the plane — all for the purpose of staging a crash to discredit Russian-backed separatists in Ukraine and the Kremlin itself.
:russia: Video of the recording in source.

So they're trying to pin it on the US by playing the US trying to pin it on the Russians? :pwn:
So they're trying to pin it on the US by playing the US trying to pin it on the Russians? :pwn:
They're taking tips on damage control from those Michigan representatives.
Awkward news reader intonation aside, this is David Sterns voice (guy with the american accent) http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02vxmm6 :v: Seems that this is intentionally bad and that tabloid just wanted to make it to the news worldwide to me.
They're taking tips on damage control from those Michigan representatives.
This just in, gay hookers caused the MH17 crash.
This just in, gay hookers caused the MH17 crash.
This is about the amount of logic used by LiveLeak commenters. Except they're serious.
is david like the only american name they knew or...?
is david like the only american name they knew or...?
They refer to another agent simply as "John" about half way into the audio.
"Hes a dude playing a dude, disguised as another dude"
this is honest to god the worst acting I've ever heard it's actually agonising.
this is honest to god the worst acting I've ever heard it's actually agonising.
As a person who is very conscious about my English pronunciation, I cringed like hell and couldn't even watch the whole thing. Jesus fuck, it's disgusting.
hey its me ur brother
the CIA has a dense history in the Ukraine and by itself it has a certain amount of currency in people's perception of the current issues, it shouldn't come as a surprise that stuff like this happens because it's obviously not for international digestion or to be taken seriously abroad. it doesn't need to be well made or enduring or complex because it's for credulous people, it's designed to be consumed and the people who might laugh at it are not its intended audience to begin with.
Ay Niko, wanna go shoot down plane?
Let us go get dem mylasians yes sir! Unfortunately I doubt most Russians who see this will even know how to tell the difference between real English speakers and those actors
You know what, I might just go and pinch a couple of our central news networks about this stuff, maybe they'll cover that, as it's no longer 'exclusive'. That might be hilarious, though I really doubt that they will: KP is UFO-spotter tier material. They ate the "SUPER SECRET SATELLITE IMAGES" though.
I was kind of worried, because their accents didn't sound too terrible to me, and most of what they said didn't sound like "the worst acting ever". Even if one of them sounded like a meek British person. Until they switched accents 2/3rds of the way through. That was just funny. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't worried that the CIA actually did it. I was worried that I couldn't point out bad acting. Because I do frequently feel that "bad acting" doesn't seem too bad unless if it's particularly terrible, such as if it's monotone or Nicholas Cage. Same with bad writing. of course, I have only a middle school experience with acting and creative writing, so
I stopped reading when I saw Pravda. Also interesting to note that the videos of the same "quality" about rebels were taken as truth back then.
Fools! These are obviously CIA agents posing as Russians that are posing as CIA agents! Wake up sheeple
Fools! These are obviously CIA agents posing as Russians that are posing as CIA agents! Wake up sheeple
Hey Dave, remember standard procedure, act like a Russian doing bad English. Don't forget, it's very important to switch accents too. Also, drop a random name somewhere. Best spies ever.
How do we know its just not the CIA releasing an intentionally bad video so that we think its the Russians who want to release a video to pin the USA when its really the USA drawing attention away from themselves by making it seem like the Russians are trying to pin it on them!!!
What are you people talking about? It's fairly obvious that :conspiratard:
Pravda, a name so synonymous of the "truth", it even makes the Russians cringe. What is sad is, Pravda can't even fool Russians, but fools plenty of batshit crazy American conspiracy theorists.
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=217_1439444756 lol
wow "i dont trust the ukranians, they're a bunch of dopers and drunks" "hehe" cringing
"And remember, no Russian..." Fucking seriously? This sounds like Call of Duty tier levels of retardation.
I wonder how does western media even find this stuff. I mean, this newspaper is an A-grade yellow press that prints stories about aliens/conspiracy theories/gossips about stars/other shit, and no one takes it seriously. We have tonns of similar press, but somehow if they print something connected to Ukraine or politics, it's almost inevitably goes worldwide labeled as propaganda and bias. Guys, we have an abundance of both, but this one is not propaganda, it's just a shitty press printing shit.
"And remember, no Russian..." Fucking seriously? This sounds like Call of Duty tier levels of retardation.
Because what you just quoted is exactly a line from Call of Duty
I'm sensing a double bluff! Americans impersonating Russians poorly impersonating Americans to actually pin the blame on the Russians! Those crafty Americans!
