• SNL mocks Trump's compulsive Twitter use, Trump responds using Twitter

I think the real joke of this skit isn't its actual form but rather proving the point on Trump's twitter use the joke goes beyond the show's impression, it's a real thing
So is Trump's supporter base still so fervent? Because it seems like more and more people are quickly being alienated by the fact that he lied to all of them and is also a sensitive wuss
Nah, the skit was hilarious. It's a spot-on impression of how much of a fucking manchild Trump is to the point where he (in spite of the fact he's going to be president probably when the electoral college votes) cannot take a joke about himself in stride the way other politicians can, and he feels a night to fight about it over Twitter at every available opportunity when the truth of the matter is if he's actually serious about being our leader he shouldn't have the time available to worry about petty shit like that. Baldwin's impression is perfect. I love how he carries himself; it's great because it's so true: Trump's arrogance and childishness is portrayed just perfectly.
It's not hilarious, it's brain dead pandering. There's no wit, there's no sick burns, it's just funny because it's "trump". It's so forced and try hard. "Is that the picture I hate?" "No it's just mashed potatoes!". How long did it take for them to come up with that zinger? [editline]4th December 2016[/editline]
So is Trump's supporter base still so fervent? Who gives a fuck. He's not tweeting nucular launch codes, he's calling out his impersonator as shit, which is true.
Yeah the president elect of the United fucking States shouldn't be spending his time engaging in petty twitter wars with everyone that makes fun of him (which is going to be everyone) it makes him look childish and pathetic
Calling his impersonator shit on twitter is hardly a tantrum or childish. God forbid the president have an opinion on his country's media.
It's not hilarious, it's brain dead pandering. There's no wit, there's no sick burns, it's just funny because it's "trump". It's so forced and try hard. "Is that the picture I hate?" "No it's just mashed potatoes!". How long did it take for them to come up with that zinger?
So it is funny then. The impression itself is hilarious because, again, it's spot on. The way Baldwin holds and carries himself is perfect. More than that though, Trump's real life behavior is the especially hilarious part here: it is childish, and it erupts after every one of these skits. The simple fact of the matter is the man cannot take a joke about himself. His ego has got fragility of a balloon: you have to keep pumping it up, but it's vulnerable to every tiny pinprick-- no matter how insignificant. You do understand that that's the reason why they keep doing these in the first place, right? Because he gets so butthurt about them, and it's funny as hell to watch. Apparently not. For a man who claims to be so brilliant and talks so tough, it's cute that he can't even take a joke at his expense. I can't wait to see how entertaining the next four years are going to be at this rate lol.
It also showcases how easy it is for him to be a hypocrite because almost every time someone criticizes or parodies him in a negative light, ALL THE SUDDEN they run a bad show. Hamilton criticizes Mike Pence? Oh he hears they're ~very overrated~ SNL parodies him? Well now they're ~biased and unwatchable~. Meanwhile if they sucked his dick I guarantee you he'd be telling you what great shows they run. I know Trump's twitter is probably the least concern of what he's doing right now, but it does go to show how not equipped for politics he is when he can't handle being criticized by the media which happens to every fucking president ever. I can't wait for the president to start shitflinging at costume stores for selling unflattering masks of him
Pretty petty and a little embarrassing. Just take the joke, as mashed potatoes as it is.
Calling his impersonator shit on twitter is hardly a tantrum or childish. God forbid the president have an opinion on his country's media.
His entire opinion on the media is that its biased and full of lies while partnering with a news group that is objectively bias and publishes lies.
His entire opinion on the media is that its biased and full of lies while partnering with a news group that is objectively bias and publishes lies.
His actual opinion on the media is that it's biased and full of lies which is bad because the bias and lies aren't in his favor
How to imitate a Trump tweet: "*Specific event here*. X is completely *adjective* and *adjective*. *Repeat same thing again*. Sad."
Heres a pic of my ass: Eat it.
Never thought I would see a picture of someone's ass in a political debate.
His actual opinion on the media is that it's biased and full of lies which is bad because the bias and lies aren't in his favor
Yep. It's exactly like his stance on the electoral college. In 2012, it was "a disaster for a democracy" because Obama was about to win the election, and Trump didn't like that outcome: But this year, because it was the only thing that allowed him to "win" the election (again, he lost the popular vote by more than 2 million votes and was rejected by the majority of the American people compared to Clinton), it has suddenly been hailed as "genius" in his eyes, and that spiel about it being disaster has conveniently disappeared entirely: He's a corrupt, hypocritical manchild. When something feeds his ego or benefits him, then that thing is good; but when something righteously calls him out for his behavior and shames him, or when something fairly defeats him, then that thing is bad. Like Sandman and Code3 have said, that's also how he works in response to the media.
Him being thin-skinned is probably a good thing since it means we can bully and heckle him out of office.
You can see how quietly angry he is when everyone laughs. It's as if he's plotting revenge. This is the moment he decided to be POTUS.
Colbert's Late Show actually did a sketch based on this idea.
Oh, come on. Alleging that the NSA is spying on Americans (especially when multiple leaks about what was very obviously NSA surveillance taps on AT&T/other major US providers came out in the '00s and were largely ignored outside of the tech security news) wasn't that much of a stretch, all that was lacking was proof -- which was provided in vast quantities when Snowden blew the whistle. Aside from the fact that it was illegal until retroactive immunity was jammed through, was anyone actually surprised that America's spy agencies were spying on people? Accusing tons of powerful people, including presidential candidates, of child rape is defamation and character assassination and could open up Reddit to being sued by multiple rich people with legal war chests to outlast God. Do you see how the Reddit admins would treat this differently?
The theory itself is crap. But these talks about pizza in letters are kinda strange. It is not connected to pedo rings (I sincerely hope so) and doesn't warrant a FBI investigation, but they're strange. And theories about NSA were usually dissmised with arguments about how they can't possibly watch everyone, and how they're violating constitution if that was true, which no government structure cn do. Well, we know how this turned out...
SNL is never very funny but why would you ever stop doing these as long as he keeps giving them more ammo. The onus is on Trump to stop getting baited. He should have way more important things to spend his time on and could do himself a big favor by ignoring them, but he chooses to outline how reactive and unprofessional he is again and again and again, so I say keep it up. The only reason I even hear about these sketches is because he keeps fanning the flames.
Alec Baldwin should make this as his full time job.
it's not like the man doesn't have 5 minutes every now and then to be able to throw out tweets. how is criticising a shitty show "getting baited"???
Because he's done exactly what they were mocking him for.
