Taft High school shooting being reported right now.

The perp was detained and it doesn't look like he killed anyone. Thank god. Maybe since he didn't off himself we can figure out what might cause shit like this and take steps to prevent it.
At least no one died in this one. School shootings are a normal occurrence (not saying that is a good thing), but with Sandy Hook everyone is up in arms and news stations are aiming for ratings. Otherwise this wouldn't have been in national news.
Why schools? Because a good deal of the people who do this stuff were bullied when they attended said school, or isolated, and grow up with an extremely isolated and bitter view of humanity, which eventually drives them to violence. In other words, humans are assholes, kids even moreso, but the politicians don't give a shit. They want to push their agenda, so they want the media reporting on these shootings and rallying for gun control, even though the real problem is our horrible mental care system. GG, America.

No they're not, media outlets like to blow things up to the point where 2 school shootings 3 months from eachother feel like a week due to their amount of coverage.
almost though it was Taft hs
in San Antonio
Texas
whew
There's a bunch of high schools in my area (southern California) that usually have some form of campus security. It's often just a rent-a-cop or an actual sheriff walking around enforcing dress codes. We almost always have a cruiser parked inside the campus or by the entrances.
One student shot in a school is hardly the same as a mass shooting. There wasn't even a death involved. The only reason this is getting publicity is because it happened in a school, otherwise there are teenagers shooting each other in all sorts of venues every day.
This sounds more like internal violence than some lunatic shooting up a bunch of innocent kids. I'd bet that the shooter was either bullied or gang affiliated.
I read a god damn post about a schoolshooting that should happen today on /x/ yesterday... What the...

Shit, it was probably a gang related shooting, not exactly an uncommon occurrence in SoCal.
The media really needs to stop bandwagoning on this shit, its really not helping anything at all and is pretty much just fear-mongering at this point
What, did it just graze them? That's the only thing I can imagine if you are going to refuse treatment after getting shot.
He probably got skimmed by it. I dont think they would call getting directly hit a minor injury.
I'm surprised by how many people have to ask why might a person do this.
Ever hear of Columbine Highschool?
Granted it isn't always the case but it probably is most of the time.
For attention. Some people are willing to do terrible things just to be in the spotlight for a few days.
Also probably because they're batshit insane too
Honestly with how many shooting massacres that has happened recently, something inside of me makes me feel likes this was a planned shooting. Two people getting shot really sounds like a kid not paying off his drugs and someone else who tried to intervene.

This one.

Absolutely. But people demand tragedy, I guess.
Only two shot? Sounds more like attempted murder than a school shooting.

Fucking noobs, it seems like they let just any joe shoot up a school these days.

As someone who lives in SoCal I can pretty much guess you are wrong. This isn't some reality show where all of Southern California is filled with gangs. Taft is in the valley where there are pretty much no gangs. Most people who go to Taft are of European heritige and there aren't any of those kinds of gangs out here *none at all actually*. Also it's pretty much one of the safer areas around here. It's a good thing no one can bring gun control into this seeing how we already have one of the strictest ones around. Not much more they can do to us. The town this happened in is so small it isn't funny so this was probably just a crazy person or planned murder.
Because they are gun free zones and shooters know that no one is going to be armed to fight back. This is why gun free zones don't work.
That's not why. It's cause they GO to school.
Taft is a bit ways out from here, but from what I heard it was an attempt at murder and a teacher managed to talk the shooter down.

Yup, a teacher talked them into dropping the gun.
The teacher, who had been grazed by a pellet, then intervened. He is reported by US media to have warned the suspect that there would be no shooting in his class, at which point the gunman put down his weapon and police officers arrested him.
That'd explain the "minor injury", too
Wow, I used to live in Bakersfield, and our highschool was up against Taft all the time. Feels strange to hear about something like this so close.
I'm actually pretty thankful for the lack of knowledge on the assailant this time. It doesn't inspire mentally ill people to go and shoot up things for attention, because by not providing the details of the attacker it proves as an example that the next potential attacker will not be famous, will not be remembered as some badass guy but instead as just "a guy".
Edit:
The teacher, who had been grazed by a pellet, then intervened. He is reported by US media to have warned the suspect that there would be no shooting in his class, at which point the gunman put down his weapon and police officers arrested him.
Holy christ this guy is a winner.
Shit, that teacher is awesome. "I am trying to teach a class! There will be no shooting here today, now sit down and have your homework ready to be collected!"
Another source is reporting this is an incident related to bullying, giving credit to the idea that these shootings were specifically targeted.
Enough.
There's been so many shootings. Makes me sick. I no longer feel as safe as I use to at school.
[sp]Some guy in my class says if given the opportunity to, he would shoot up the school.[/sp]
I'm completely dumbfounded to why all of this is going on, these are truly disgusting in every way.
:suicide:
To be expected when the media puts out such a wide coverage of other school shootings.
