Thin woman bumped from flight to allow 14 year old fatty to have 2 seats

I really doubt if she was trying to get the tickets on standby in the first place that one day extra waiting wouldn't matter a lot. A friend of mine got stuck in Nice for an extra 2 days waiting on standby tickets since he has family working in the airline and all the flights were overbooked.
Fat people disgust me
why do you give a damn about someone else's weight?
Standby means she doesn't actually have a seat, there is no guarantee she is getting on the plane. It's a cheaper ticket usually only aviable for relatives of the personell. I don't really get the part with paying for the last seat, I've never heard of that before.
It's really dumb how they don't force the fat kid to pay for the second seat, but with a standby ticket you usually rely on taking the seats of late passengers (that's the whole idea of standby, low price, high risk, good reward.)
Interesting definition of it, in the UK its usually people who have missed their flight or turned up too early and the airline try to sort it out by distributing the empty seats on flights to the same destination to the people on standby. I guess they could buy their way in as well.
Anyway, in my opinion if someone has to take up two seats they should have to pay for both and if there isn't the room they should be unloaded not another paying customer.
What a fat ass, how could the parents only need one seat but their child needs two!

Hey come on now, I know JDK isn't the most lovable person, but don't wish that on his cat, wish it on him.
we really need to kill all fat people in the world
S-
Santa?
sad state of affairs our youth is in
she makes me embarrassed to be under 18
Oh wow what fucking selfish assholes.
Fat people disgust me, this just adds fuel to the fire.
It's such an arbitrary thing to be disgusted of. I mean, using the traditional definition of "disgusting", a burn victim is much more "disgusting" yet you'd never say it.
typical Americans
No
No
yep
more than one in three adult americans are obese
yep

"Typical" implies the majority
33% is less than 50%
You are trolling
America is fat. I agree but 'typical Americans' is a dumb way of putting it.
still, no matter how you put it, no matter that 1/3 is less than 1/2, thats still pretty fucking disgusting that a thrid of Americans arent just slightly overweight, but obese.
You think Southwest Airlines would understand how to properly handle a situation like this at this point. Wasn't it made clear after the Kevin Smith fiasco that if someone could not put their armrests down in their seat, they were considered a safety risk and had to either pay for another seat or get off?
Wow she's only 14 and she requires two seats?
I'd like to see her.
I wouldn't.

Healthy food needs to become less expensive than unhealthy food. Not through taxes on junk food, but through subsidies to companies that produce healthy items.
We already give up a bunch of our own civil rights to fly anyway :3:
It's not your right to fly.
I'm a fat guy, but I don't take up two seats.
I really want to see this 14 year old.
Coincidently, I'm watching a documentary right now on obesity.

I would just like to point out the fact that the video in this post is talking about fat people and the last part of the URL spells "Ass". :v:
At any rate, it's ridiculous how much we cater to fat people. Yeah yeah, I know, some of them have a legitimate "glandular problem", but when you catch the 'beetus just because you eat nothing but Hungry Man TV dinners and Little Debbie all damn day, what makes you more worthy of the motorized carts than the old man who lost his leg in Korea? I mean, look at you! You're ON A MOTORIZED CART, exerting NO PHYSICAL EFFORT, and you're WHEEZING.
...the kid was obviously with his family. The woman was alone. It sucks that she had to be taken off to make room, but if I was managing seating in that airline, I'd probably do the same thing.
Oh, and that kid must be one fat bastard.
what the fuck
I'm 14 and not the thinnest guy ever, but I don't take 2 fucking seats on an airplane. :wtf:
Seriously
when I imagine someone my age who takes 2 fucking seats on an airplane, i don't imagine a person
i imagine a big fat fucking roly poly ball of lard with a face on it
She should sue the airlines.
They really could have handled it better, they're lucky the woman didn't give them a lot of shit for it.
They should've slapped a sticker on the 14 year old, labeling her as "Cargo". That way, we can store her below deck, saving space. I know it's not pressurized, so we can throw a couple O2 tanks down there with her too.
Now for the serious post:
The only reason they did this, was to avoid more flak from overweight passengers. They way the handled it was wrong, yes, but from their business standpoint, they had to do it.
Still, the woman who payed the fare in full, should've been given priority. Usually, late arrivals are held, and they need to book a new flight (Delta does this, and I'm speaking from the experience with them) and they're charged a fee for re-issuing the ticket. It doesn't matter if she's 14 or not. They have special circumstances in place for kids, so they can make it to the gate, etc.
Now with that being said, I do think what they did was wrong. Hopefully they'll amend some of their policies so things like this can be handled better in the future.

Most are pressurized, just don't have lights that are turned on until the door is open.

Maybe I'm thinking of international flights then. My bad.
why do you give a damn about someone else's weight?
The problem is not the weight, but the consequences.
Most of the overweight people don't feel good in their body, they are angered and caustic about it, even though it's their complete fault. Some accept it's their one and only fault, but some other must absolutely place the origin on someone else's shoulders, and that's where the problem begin because their permanent anger of themselves lead them to hate other people, because they are thinner or simply because they can look at his/her body and think (s)he is overweight.
A lot of fat people act like this : they just can't take the responsibility of being fat, so they assume it's the fault of people, just like they didn't decide to eat like fuck and become overweight.
So, to come back to your question, he, and I, and a lot of people give a damn about other people's weight because most of the time overweight turn people into real assholes. And apparently it's the case of this girl : she became so fat, caustic and angered about herself and society she estimates she deserves a reward, something more to compensate what society supposedly turned her into. So, when the flight company proposed her to kick a thin woman (what a bitch, she was thinner than her, what an insult) out of the plane to take her seat plus her original one to fit her ass in the seats, she wouldn't say no in front of such a chance to take her revenge against people who take care of themselves.
