The SWAT officers shouldn't be blamed, they saw a man with a gun in hand and acted accordingly. Now, the person who organized this shit should be fucking fired, the war on drugs is being taken too far. But hey, at least it's not China.
That story is really, really old.
Well, shit happens. Shit. Happens. The shooting of him was justified and, the author of the article is stupid.
..But Vanessa Guerena insisted she had no idea, when she heard a "boom" and saw a dark-suited man pass by a window...
No shit. Your not supposed to know when they do this stuff until it happens.
SWAT is one of the scariest things ever.
If the weapons are fully automatic (I don't know whether SWAT use semi-auto or full auto) and there are multiple officers then it's not exactly hard to shoot 73 times with the kid shot 63 times it's not the same thing since it was multiple officers with pistols, not assault rifles or submachine guns

four of whom carried .40-caliber handguns while another had an AR-15
Also, I think they are asking why he was killed, more in the sense of why was a raid conducted.

I mean was storming in with guns necessary? Couldn't they have done a knock and talk of some sort? I know people who've gotten raided by the DEA (for some cannabis), everybody in the house hold gets arrested and humiliated. Not to mention they damage the house and your property.
I mean was storming in with guns necessary? Couldn't they have done a knock and talk with detectives in pennyloafers?
You have no idea what you are talking about.
This story is old as hell. With no knock warrants I'm pretty sure they repeatedly yell "Police, search warrant!" or something like it. You don't run at a SWAT team who's yelling that with a gun in your hand. The team did exactly as their training told them to.
I mean was storming in with guns necessary? Couldn't they have done a knock and talk of some sort?
If they send in detectives then he could hide the stuff since sending detectives implies they don't have a warrant these guys thought there might be a danger so they sent in SWAT first to execute the warrant, and this happened to happen
I mean was storming in with guns necessary? Couldn't they have done a knock and talk of some sort?
They where searching for drugs. Drugs and guns go hand-in-hand. They are not going to knock on a house that could potentially be loaded with guns. Their going to knock your door in, make a lot of noise, confuse you, and control you.
Has SWAT teams ever done something good? How are there this many fuck ups with these SWAT teams? I'd expect them to have a ton of info to do these warrentless busts. And 71 bullets? Holy shit, 10 isn't enough?
I'm sick of people seeing the fuck ups of a small group of policemen, and saying "ALL POLICE ARE BAD". Seriously, theres thousands of SWAT operating in the US, not every single one of them are monsters out to shoot your pets and mace your grandmother. Theres a few bad apples in the bunch, but you're going to see that no matter what job you have.

Drug dealers are NEVER armed right?
Lets go and knock on a drug dealers door and say we're cops. Drug dealers are NEVER armed right?
Most drug dealers you come across are just ordinary people and do NOT carry guns. Carrying weed is sketchy enough. Why carry other contraband on you?
Most drug dealers you come across are just ordinary people and do NOT carry guns. Carrying weed is sketchy enough. Why carry other contraband on you?
There have been plenty of times with Police departments across the country where drug dealers were found with tons of weaponry in their houses. They have to go in expecting that. Even so, they can't just talk it out or something, that gives dealers time to dispose of the drugs they're busting them for in the first place.
Most drug dealers you come across are just ordinary people and do NOT carry guns. Carrying weed is sketchy enough. Why carry other contraband on you?
Because being involved with drug dealing means you can be in constant danger?
Because being involved with drug dealing means you can be in constant danger?
usually, alot of the drugs coming into the US come from Mexico, and from Mexico, they're distributed to Gangs, Gangs are not very safe groups to be dealing with.
Is it even known for certain that he was a drug dealer?
Is it even known for certain that he was a drug dealer?
The search warrant would tell us. They only need probable cause for them to get issued one. (along with some intel)
usually, alot of the drugs coming into the US come from Mexico, and from Mexico, they're distributed to Gangs, Gangs are not very safe groups to be dealing with.
I know, my question was an answer to his question
I fucking hate this attitude that a police officer's life is worth more than anyone else's. They should have to make themselves known, so that people don't try to defend themselves wrongfully.
I actually lol'd at the part with the SWAT guy tripping over. Imagine if they were attacking a bunch of armed drug dealers, and someone just trips on their shoelaces.
I fucking hate this attitude that a police officer's life is worth more than anyone else's. They do make themselves known. They have to announce themselves as Police
How it works: your life > partners life > departments life > civilian life > suspects life. They do make themselves known.
Well they apparently did not do it well enough when a man's wife thinks someone is breaking into the house.

The officers - four of whom carried .40-caliber handguns while another had an AR-15 - moved to the door, briefly sounding a siren, then shouting "Police!" in English and Spanish.
Sounds like a personal issue.
This actually makes me feel sick, a man who served his country was murdered by his own system.
How it works: your life > partners life > departments life > civilian life > suspects life.
Cops' lives are worth more than civilians'? So some guy just starts gunning down a shopping mall, and the cops go, "Yikes, looks pretty dangerous over there, good luck with that!"
Sounds like a personal issue.
So wait. The police are coming into the house. The wife goes to the bedroom, waking her husband up. Her husband grabs the gun. Husband goes to the door with gun. He is shot and killed. In the minutes this all took neither the husband or wife realized it was the police?
Its about personal safety. Im not going to step on a powerline so that you can cross over it.
