Remember back in 1997 when the Police all used 9mm Pistols and SWAT used 9mm SMG's. Then 2 dudes clad head to tow in body armour robbed a North Hollywood Bank and went on absolutely dominated the cops? And the main reason things turned around was due the Police grabbing a bunch of AR-15's from a gun shop down the street.
We don't want that sort of shit to happen again, that's why SWAT has access to such advanced weaponry.

They can be like the secret police sometimes.. a neighbor I knew was an ex-con for fraud and drug possession, and they shot a couple of his dogs each time they served a search warrant until he had none left.. he said it felt cruel to replace the dogs knowing that they would be killed within a month or two when they knocked in his door again, so he never owned another one. He's been clean and out for years and they apparently still knock his window out or his door down every once in a while "just to keep him from ever feeling safe" (as he put it)

And that only ended after Matasareanu died up against a fence from blood loss due to the injuries to his legs. Phillips, his friend, already turned his Beretta on himself after he realized the situation was hopeless and he was going to go to prison for a LONG time.
