Okay, so if I understand this correctly, they're trying to get breasts from being publicly censored, and encourage men to censor themselves? I don't quite understand what they're implying there.
I also don't understand some people who say that they support this 100% but still always cover themselves up in public or private, I've seen and met a couple of people like this but it still makes absolutely no sense.
I support this movement though, I think women as well as men should be able to go into public shirtless if they desire.
They're not having men cover up because they think men should be covered and not women, they're just poking fun at the laws. They don't think either should -have- to cover up

Its just a device to show that they want equality either way, its kind of a "would you rather men be forced to wear tops or for women not to have to" Meh.

I guess that kind of makes sense.
I'd better walk around with my dick out then to show how fertile I am.
Laws like this exist for a REASON. One of the primary ones is saftey. I'm saying this before it happens so you cant go "hurdurr victim blaming", but I can guarantee some people who are fucked in the head would see this as a reason to go out and, ooh, I don't know, increase the rape percentage?
The coremost way of decreasing rape percentage is ensuring that men get rid of the subconscious objectification of women.
Letting women do what they want with absolutely no exceptions and differences of what man do, is part of it.

That doesn't make any sense, women having the same rights as men is not going to make rapists suddenly stop (although of course they still should have the same rights). The "coremost" way to stop rapists should be teaching people at a young age how seriously wrong rape is
The law might be hypocritical but it isn't unfounded. It's instinctual that men get turned on by breasts (and curves in general), it's part of our evolution.
Breasts only turn you on exceptionally because you usually don't see them naked and prancing about, unless you are already aroused and looking at porn. Go ask your mom to show you her tits. It won't (okay, shouldn't) turn you on at all, because you are used to these tits since childhood.

There are numerous cultures around the world where women never hide their. Their women show their tits all day, and it's not like the tribe suffers from men being too horny to go hunt or whatever; they are just used to it.
If publicly displayed tits were a common thing for a few generations, people would barely even notice at all.
What you believe to be "part of evolution" is actually a social construct, nothing more.
It was the same shit with ankles back in the day, actually.

Oh, but it does. The main cause of rape is misogyny. Men who don't see women as somebody of the same value as themselves. Get rid of sexism, and you will be able to get rid of misogyny.
This doesn't sound like a thing Catbug would say.
I didn't. As far as I'm aware, I've been asleep for the past two hours.
Unless I've been sleep-shitposting, which is actually probably not that unlikely.

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but equal rights laws don't make people see the error of their ways. They make it so that people can be prosecuted for the error of their ways, but it doesn't force them to see that they're wrong. Just because you give women equal rights doesn't mean people will suddenly stop being misogynist. There's a lot more factors at work than the law in affecting how people value each other

This post kinda reminds me of a funny story: At my high school they did this 'day of silence' thing, where LGBT students would walk around not saying anything for the whole day to represent their being oppressed by society, and them not speaking was the entire message. There were no advertisements for the day, no banners, nothing of the sort. Kids just kinda wouldn't say anything. At all. In general. I'm sure the teachers knew about it but it was done behind the scenes so that your average student would have no idea what's going on.
But I don't think they thought that through all the way, because their way of getting the message across prevented them from actually telling people what the message was about the first year they did it. :v:

Uhh, are you implying that women don't get turned on by attractive shirtless guys?
is this really a problem
like are you really being bothered, and your life is unbearable because of this...
aren't there better things to protest about?
All this is going to do for me is let me see your tits. Thanks.

sorry is it really that oppressive?
I cant wrap my non-feminist mind around this because I must be sexist due to the fact I think shit like this is dumb.
Personally I think everyone should have a right to not wear clothes, but there should be a subsidiary law that says that if you decide to go shoeless, you aren't allowed to complain when you step on something
Uhh, are you implying that women don't get turned on by attractive shirtless guys?
honestly i've been turned on by pretty faces before, and most of the world is ok with those being visible.
adding tits to the equation won't really affect me all that much
I'm all for this. It's basic equality. Why bar women from showing their tits yet fat dudes can whip their moobs out with impunity?
I'm all for this. It's basic equality. Why bar women from showing their tits yet fat dudes can whip their moobs out with impunity?
I think it should be illegal for guys with moobs to be topless in public
sorry is it really that oppressive?
You have to take steps for these taboo situations. Start with being topless, and soon, just maybe we can be nude without feeling ashamed.
I cant wrap my non-feminist mind around this because I must be sexist due to the fact I think shit like this is dumb.
Don't be a dick.
I'll support this on the condition I can walk around without anything covering my penis and not receive negative attention.
Edit: Dumb rating? I thought you were for equality, right?
Explain why other cultures don't have such a fetishization towards breasts?
You answered your own question.
Cultures.
Do women really want their boobs to be de-sexualized though?
I mean... men are crazy about boobs because they're hidden away from us and treated as something special that not everyone is allowed to see. If being topless as a woman is suddenly treated as being just as normal as being topless as a man, then there would be nothing special about topless women anymore.
Now I've personally always been an ass and hips man so I personally would not care if boobs were treated less special... However I still wonder if women would feel the comfort would be worth the loss of a major attraction, especially considering they already do so many other tedious and uncomfortable things like shaving their legs and putting on make-up for the mere fact that they want to be seen as more attractive. If I was a woman I too would value the things people were attracted by, and enjoy being able to flaunt it to attract and arouse someone I like. I would consider it a loss to have something about me everyone considers to be sexy and attractive, to suddenly become normal and uninteresting. As a man... I imagine the feeling to me would be mutual to every woman suddenly having a dick, which would mean that my dick would be treated as significantly less unique and interesting for someone else to explore.
i don't know why these clothing restrictions are still in place to be honest
it's just another step forward since the bombshell of skirts and miniskirts around the mid 90s

so we somehow evolved to get a boner because of boobs but other cultures didn't evolve to?
