Tinder can be great, there's a chance you can make meaningful connections from it that go beyond hooking up. If you treat it as a hook up app then yeah, you'll probably go no more than fucking strangers but if you look for more, you may just find it. Speaking from experience as I've made meaningful connections that started from Tinder but progressed into much, much more than sex.
No, actually it's a reasonable critique of how visibly and unashamedly superficial and narcissistic our society has become-- not to mention painfully inept at conducting basic face-to-face interactions with other human beings (which used to be taken for granted), thanks to a modern overdependence on social media and technology that's bordering on addiction for a huge portion of the population. Some of the people interviewed here, goddamn what shitbirds. There's no depth, no complexity at all, to them. They're not alive; they're just directionlessly existing like animals: eating, drinking, excreting and fucking. Imagine being that purposeless.
A grandiose elitist luddite nihilist? What fresh hell is this?
Tinder is pretty dumb anyway. Most guys are going to have better luck meeting and dating attractive girls by talking to them IRL than desperately hoping they'll match with you on Tinder.
Yeah that involves going outside though and fuck that nonsense. This reaction to Tinder and Tinder-likes is quite similar to the backlash against any new form of media; "oh but it totally contradicts our values and just makes things convenient and nasty!!!", well sure it does if you think convenience is bad or something silly. Online dating sites had the same problem really, but now they are fairly accepted as a method to meet people because modern lives are super fucking busy if you're doing anything more complex than menial labour where you can just clock in and out. My short, not super committed foray into Tinder use has led me to believe that it's not exactly my thing as I'm not a 7' body builder who rock climbs mid skydive for a day job. The matches I have made tend to never fucking reply so it's very hit and miss. The technical aspect of the app super interests me though, the algorithm used to filter out users nearby based on [thing] is neat. You have to have an active and worn in Facebook account to actually get anything from the app, and I'd love to know how the data gathered is used just because.

Most of the people using it are going to be extremely picky on looks because it's super easy to dismiss a person on looks not knowing anything about them. In these cases yeah you're better off dating the old fashioned way.

You're either going to get some pretty decent photos of someone, or a decent bio, rarely both, sometimes neither. Or you'll get a person who's photos consist of them hiding in groups of friends so it's fuck-impossible to even work out what they look like :v:

When I would go through (I'm not currently using tinder, in a relationship, that started from tinder) I would just swipe based on my reaction to the first pic, then go through and actually read the profiles of people I matched with. Not worth the effort of reading bios of people you aren't matched with.
