• Police find Sidewinder Missile in a guys house, among other things

This really made the news? It's inert/deactivated with prob. no chance of making it to fire again, let alone finding an aircraft to use it with. That's like complaining that someone owns a handle to a knife with no knife.
A quick Wikipedia leads me to believe they used both still.
Yeah, but the F/A designation is the Super Hornet. There is the F-18 Hornet, and then the F/A-18 Super Hornet.
Heh just bought a grenade time to make my sister shit her pants thanks for the site. Deactivated of course.
Yeah, but the F/A designation is the Super Hornet. There is the F-18 Hornet, and then the F/A-18 Super Hornet.
No, there's the F/A-18A/B/C/D Hornet and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.

Unless it still had the explosives in it, I don't see the problem. (Not completely sure what counts as "disarmed") Not sure how it counts as a firearm either.
As long as he didn't have an F/A-18 to launch it, the thing is harmless. Worse he could do would be whacking someone's face with it.
As long as he didn't have an F/A-18 to launch it, the thing is harmless. Worse he could do would be whacking someone's face with it.
Or if there is any explosives in the missile he could use it to make some form of IED. v:v:v
I wonder how he could have gotten one. Also, it is F/A-18 Super Hornet.
Was it a Super Hornet? I thought they used Hornets too.
This is close to me aswell
What an interesting piece, I wonder how much he payed.
Was it a Super Hornet? I thought they used Hornets too.
Doesn't really make a difference in this context, considering sidewinders are used by both Super Hornets and their downtrodden non-super cousins. Also I like how australians can complain about a civilian stashing a sidewinder missile. If that happened in NZ, he'd have already outgunned all of the Air force, all of the riflemen of the army and half the navy. :v:
I load these all the time onto F-15s. The missile was prob an inert which means nothing works on it. Lives and training missiles aren't available for anyone and the accountability on them is insane. They're heavy also meaning around 150 pounds. And I hate them because they have stupid fins in the back. AIM-9X is superior sidewinder. And if it was a live the worst he could do is blow himself up or activate the rocket motor. You can't just detonate a missile. The missile detonates you.
I wonder how he could have gotten one. Also, it is F/A-18 Super Hornet.
There are two different kinds of F-18's you know, Hornet and Super Hornet. [editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
Yeah, but the F/A designation is the Super Hornet. There is the F-18 Hornet, and then the F/A-18 Super Hornet.
F/A stands for Fighter-Attack, not Super Hornet.
pew pew jet - 18 is a better name anyway
More like AK-47.
There are two different kinds of F-18's you know, Hornet and Super Hornet.
don't forget there is a third SUPER DUPER HORNET
Army surplus store near me sells deactivated ground to air missiles :v:
don't forget there is a third SUPER DUPER HORNET
Oh shit, are we fucked?
I wonder how he could have gotten one. Also, it is F/A-18 Super Hornet.
F/A-18A/B/C/D = Hornet F/A-18E/F = Super Hornet
Don't forget about CF-18 Maple Hornets and F/A-18G/H Super Duper Hornets.
F/A-18 The F/A stands for Fighter/Aussie. I learned this from Chernarus.
I would buy a deactivated missile as an ornament, if it was legal, just take all the stuff inside out, run a cable up the inside, lightbulb and a lampshade on the top, you now have a rad as fuck floor lamp.
You could probably get a replica from a prop company like this http://www.inertproducts.com/movie__film____tv_props
[t]http://pl.b5z.net/i/u/6070324/i/160MM_CHINESE_MORTAR_REPLICA.JPG[/t] You can buy a knockoff of a Chinese mortar built in America, neat.
That shit's expensive. The title says the missile was found among other things. I wonder what else they found.
That shit's expensive. The title says the missile was found among other things. Well shit, right after the Olympic shenanigans the military was all over the damn place, dismantling A-A sentries and whatnot. this guy probably just stumbled across this huge missile and had to have it, like the one guy said
Guys can we get off the fact that it was for an F-18? Goddamn sidewinders can be launched from ANY NATO aircraft. It could have been from an A-10 for all we know.
