I live in a labour safeseat, should I even bother going out to vote for them if they're going to win anyway?
Get out and vote, lest you be haunted by the ghost of Thatchers Past. [editline]8th June 2017[/editline]
I live in a Tory safe seat, my vote will mean literally nothing, but my girlfriend and I are going out to vote anyway. Labour are offering a genuine way out of the dead-end hand to mouth existence we currently face, whereas the Tories are looking to take everything from people like us. Even if it doesn't matter either way- it wouldn't feel right to do nothing and sit around waiting for everything to go wrong.
See this is the major problem with FPTP, it disenfranchises people. They end up thinking that if their vote doesn't win then it was meaningless. I've been voting for 8 years and not once has my choice won a seat, but I've never felt like my vote was a waste because I know that by putting the bastards I don't want at the bottom I'm making it harder for them to get elected. No one I wanted has been elected in my area, but no one I completely hate has been elected either.
Get out and vote, lest you be haunted by the ghost of Thatchers Past.
You have been visited by the Corbyn of Good Spending. Free uni and nationalisation will come to your country, but only if you go out and vote
I've got high hopes that Corbyn will win
I've got high hopes that Corbyn will win
Whisper of a dream...
I voted for him and I don't think he will. But, I am willing to be proven wrong.
Lots of people saying very high turnout, especially with young voters. Let's see if it does anything.
Whisper of a dream...
2017: Corbyn 2019: Shorten
It kinda sucks that your vote may as well not count if you're not in the right circumscription, especially when executive power is on the line. Kinda reminds me of the US electoral college.
I live in a labour safeseat, should I even bother going out to vote for them if they're going to win anyway?
quoth the Lorax: "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing's going to get better. It isn't."
Really wondering what's next for Labour if/when they lose
Really wondering what's next for Labour if/when they lose
Corbyn will probably pull a Bernie and go into Boss Phase 3. [editline]8th June 2017[/editline] what're you gonna do when jezzamania runs through you
Really wondering what's next for Labour if/when they lose
A lot of people on the right are hoping people will respond by going : "Oh, an actual chance for political change didn't go our way?!, time to ditch that idea forever and settle for the most unoffensive might-as-well-be-Tories politicians from now on!" Personally I don't see that happening.
A lot of people on the right are hoping people will respond by going : "Oh, an actual chance for political change didn't go our way?!, time to ditch that idea forever and settle for the most unoffensive might-as-well-be-Tories politicians from now on!" Personally I don't see that happening.
I think people are aware they can have something different now, and maybe not this time, but the next time, we'll get it.
If we get a hung parliament in such a way that we need a new election, either people will side with the Tories so we have a government or Labour will have more time to carry their momentum into a better result.
If we get a hung parliament in such a way that we need a new election, either people will side with the Tories so we have a government or Labour will have more time to carry their momentum into a better result.
I have no idea what would happen in that case. Labour are gaining massive momentum, but I'm not sure if people will vote in fear of Brexit being delayed.
The big issue is that brexit negotiations are due to start in 11 days iirc so if we don't have a government that's more than a small issue.
I think people are aware they can have something different now, and maybe not this time, but the next time, we'll get it.
Funnily enough, that's pretty much why Scottish Independence hasn't really died. People are thirsty for change. [editline]8th June 2017[/editline]
I mean, if Tory win will Theresa May even bother showing up to Brexit negotiations xd
She'll send Amber Rudd instead, along with a sick note saying that she can't turn up today.
[t] https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DByxooKWsAANz7j.jpg:large [/t] I fucking hate the Scum so much.
I think that's parody.
[t] https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DByxooKWsAANz7j.jpg:large [/t] I fucking hate the Scum so much.
You know that is a satirical piece yeah?
You know that is a satirical piece yeah?
I fucking hate myself so much.
I fucking hate myself so much.
I think the line about introducing them to LSD to help them not vote is a pretty big tip off. Can't see some rich tory cunt giving their kids a sheet of high powered blotter acid and telling them to go nuts.
I fucking hate myself so much.
Still kinda shitty because some parents will probably try and prevent their kids voting.

Can't see some rich tory cunt giving their kids a sheet of high powered blotter acid and telling them to go nuts.
Honestly I didn't get to that part I just stopped reading because up to that point it could genuinely pass for Sun quality. They have posted some seriously stupidly vile stuff. I guess I should be more careful, but the media lately has really pissed me off.
So I got back from the polling station and they said I wasn't registered, but I did register at a new address a couple of days before registering closed. They claimed I registered the day afterwards, which is nonsense on their end. The problem is I'm not sure how to even check when I registered, I remember putting on a mobile number but not sure on an email address.
You know that is a satirical piece yeah?
Honestly, it's clear to me the sentiment of "I don't want young people voting" is there. Whereas I just had a lively debate with my grandparents about politics and tried their best to make them understand my position. Yes I am taking the moral high ground, taking the moral high ground against the Sun is like challenging a worm to a 100m sprint.

I hope most polling stations aren't as poorly run as yours.

They should be able to clear it up.

Yeah I tried getting through to them but they said there wasn't a lot they could do etc. It's one less vote for Labour.
