Nobody should get too excited yet. Half a year ago it looked like Hillary was beating Trump as the votes started to come in, and look how that turned out.
Prepare for the worst, but hope and expect for the best.
I'll take the hung parliament. The Tories can't simply call another election.
Yes they can, that's usually what happens if they can't form a coalition since minority governments are always a complete mess.

Not without giving labour a chance to get a queen's speech through.
Another safe Tory seat, another swing for Labour.
Everything's swinging in reverse for the moment.

Labour is not going to have a chance to do that,

mate can you pack the doom and gloom in for the night until we have the results? you say this in every bloody thread

I prefer to expect the worst, then be surprised by the result. You can then prepare for the best and if things go shit you still get to enjoy the result.
We need an absolute best case scenario for a Labour led government, SNP has to defy the exit polls and Labour has to exceed them in order to be able to form a coalition.
Far more realistic a hope is either a slimmed Conservative majority or a Conservative minority which will force May to abandon a lot of her more batshit policies since they'll never pass in parliament without a large majority.
Can we just acknowledge the fact Corbyn and co were behind 24 points in the polls 2 months ago, and were going against the most popular PM in modern history with seemingly total defeat in sight.
Now May is begging to keep her current majority and risks being hung. Fucking INSANE change.
Wow, I expected a higher conservative percentage. Go my consituency (nuneaton), I guess, even if the majority is tory.

Because it needs to be said; because people have massively unrealistic expectations.
It's not doom and gloom - even if the exit poll is correct Labour are still 50 seats behind the Conservatives.
If there is a hung parliament then the chances are it will be a minority Conservative government.
Nuneaton is a bellwether seat, it went Tory by a 5% margin. That's not very promising.
That said, it's only been a bellwether seat since 97. That's not as long as some, but either way, not a happy result.
Is this where the dream starts to die? that's three conservative in a row.

They was expected.
At the moment, everything's basically going as normal. It's when we get to the seats that are 50/50 later in the night that we can really draw some conclusions.
They was expected.
I guess. Still slightly proud that my consituency isn't *completely* full of arseholes.

Just for me personally it feels nice to have hope and get a little excited on a situation that looks bleak and then adjust and pick yourself up again if the worst happens. Sort of thinking that at the very least despite not getting the best results, during the small moment there was a ray of hope for a little while, and that ray of hope can at least be seen as a good sign that things aren't always so bad despite any present bad results.
I do get that though, it does feel really great to be surprised with the best possible outcome too, and not getting invested too much will avoid any crushed motivation and hope.

This one doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Chelmsford and other areas around Essex are strong Con.
