If it's a hung parliament it's a big defeat for cons correct?
they had a huge majority and they fucking splashed it because may decided she could get even more of the pot
can parliament function with a minority government? will just nothing get done? or does there HAVE to be a government of some sort?
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Minority governments get supported by smaller parties when there are important votes (called a Confidence and Supply Agreement) - enabling them to pass. Apart from those key bills, there is no guarantee that they can pass other legislation and is subject to constant negotiation.

Considering this election was meant to hand them a definitive majority, oh hell yes.
Disappointed that May will ultimately stay on as PM but happy that it will be even harder for her to push her agenda through.

The fact that labour have made the gains they have and that the conservatives lost what they did means a lot.

Theoretically, yes. It means the Conservatives will have to abandon many of their pledges for which they needed a commanding majority as they would be voted down in parliament. Even if they can get a slim majority with the DUP propping them up, just a few rebellious MPs can result in defeat. So expect a far more moderate and middle of the road government than we were due to get.

Corbyn's views are so sensible that I sometimes feel like the USA is more of a foreign country to me...

May called it because she knew it'd be an easy win. My guess is she wanted to consolidate her leadership as she wasn't elected in a general election.
Of course, all she's done is shrink her party's majority regardless of the outcome and shaken what was originally a very solid bedrock for the Tories. I'm personally loving it, especially due to the arrogance from the conservatives that thought they had it in the bag.
Elections should never feel like a sure thing.

Statistically the majority of the UK agrees with Corbyn's policies, they just flip their shit when they find out Corbyn's the one suggesting them.

Stoke went Con, dooming us to a tory majority via coalition.

Her decision was basically a complete misunderstanding of the foundation of what a democracy is and she justly saw her punishment for it.
Stoke went Con, dooming us to a tory majority via coalition.
Preferable to just a straight tory majority tbh
Stoke went Con, dooming us to a tory majority via coalition.
It may not end up in a coalition. DUP could guarantee supply / confidence but not form a coalition and that would allow them to form government, I believe.

And people say one vote doesn't make a difference :v:

Whichever way this falls, let this be demonstrative to people.
Your vote actually does fucking matter.
Cons + DUP is some kind of strange coalition.

now we need to look for the fuckers in that electorate who say "but my vote doesn't make a difference" as per tradition

Quite!
I will forever show this to people who moan "my vote doesn't count".

Yep, saving this tweet to shove in their faces.
Cons + DUP is some kind of strange coalition.
Why?
never heard of DUP until tonight, had to google them
nice to know that a party I've never heard of with 10 seats can have the ability to form a coalition when the party with 252 seats gets nothing

CON - 298 LAB - 252 SNP - 34 LD - 12 DUP - 10 OTH - 11
It's possible that they might be wary of a Tory Coalition, especially considering the last coalition saw the Lib Dems get pretty much ruined, something they're still recovering from to this day I might add.
