UK General Election Day and Results: 'Parliament is Well Hung.'

surprised people aren't more angry at the fact she's pulled this shit to get more than she can chew for the conservatives and ended up completely plunging the UK into uncertainty. That is unless they can pull together a parliament that can somehow stabilize the already shaky brexit lol
like literally regardless of if you support labour or conservatives she's royally cucked up the UK's reputation :v:
Alright, so things could had went worse.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Calling an early election just to try and get an even bigger majority than her party already had was a fantastically bone-headed idea.
It's almost a Trump-tier move; the Conservatives had the majority, they had enough votes to carry out Brexit according to their designs (at least on the UK end), but they just had to try and pad it out more to look better during negotiations.
"Look how big our votes are, really big, the biggest in the world!"
Alright, so things could had went worse.
There was a very low chance of things going better than this, considering it's one of the largest political shifts in modern British politics.
Brexit already did that, what would of fucked our reputation more is if she won by another land slide, it would of shown our entire country is just sheep.
Well, deciding on Brexit was like a worldwide loss of reputation. But any chance at respect from the EU for carrying it out properly and efficiently is gone LMAO.
Though it's a shit situation I do believe that now we're in Brexit we've gotta do it hard. Don't think May can fulfill that though.
Well he's validated himself pretty well now in all the ways that matter. May has royally screwed the pooch.
He has now. That's not my point, though. My point is that he refused to step down when the call was greatest and when he wasn't doing well.
It's like if, by some miracle, another election was held and May won by a landslide - it wouldn't change the fact she did shit now.

Frickin' exactly.
He has now. That's not my point, though. My point is that he refused to step down when the call was greatest and when he wasn't doing well.
He refused to step down because he was massively popular with the membership. The only reason his leadership came into question was because of New Labour politicians getting scared that his tactics of actually creating legislation for the membership instead of creating legislation and then hoping the legislation would follow him was considered "crazy".
May is set to meet the Queen later today to try and form a government. Looking like a Conservative DUP coalition.
I get the feeling this Conservative DUP tie up will be really fragile particularly over Brexit. It feels a strong bet to say that we could be back to the polls within two years because of it falling apart.
Also, glad to see the tabloid press just seemingly lose influence this election.

May can say she's not resigning all she likes. She's gone - and the Cons fighting over that needs to be factored in to what comes next.
[sp]Who knew a Labour minority would be the more stable option.[/sp]
Johnson, Hammond & Davis have nothing to fucking say.
Theresa May will visit Buckingham Palace at 12:30BST to seek permission to form a UK government, despite losing her Commons majority
I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

The prime minister is attempting to stay in office onthe understanding that the Democratic Unionist Party will support her minority administration.

I would not even give it that long. There will be 'stability' over the next few weeks but the cracks will start to form by the Autumn.
Let's hope Corbyn can pull off some 'rainbow coalition' multi-party to finally get these tory fucks out of power even more.
If I recall correctly, SNP were willing to do a coalition with Labour, hopeful thinking.

They could not do it, there are not enough non-Conservative seats in order to do that.

Even if he did I don't think they'd have enough seats, SNP lost a lot of seats and a surprising amount to the tories too.
Reading the thread last night and when waking up has been a wild ride. Well done to the UK lads!

Remarkable that Scotland's attempts to kick the Tories out ultimately allowed them to stay in.
She can say she's not resigning all she likes lol the fact is she blew a 20 point lead on an incredibly poor campaign, she's delusional if she thinks that the party isn't already maneuvering to replace her.
No doubt the replacement will be no better than her

If the DUP get to share power with the minority Cons, is it possible that Sinn Fein may abandon their abstentionism policy?
I don't know much about DUP but I thought they opposed GFA

Turns out you might be right. It seems crazy that a party could opposite Good Friday today, considering it's been proven effective.
take a shot everytime paul nuttall says a sentence with thrown pauses in awkward places
It's almost like you can't win an election with a landslide by insulting members of the opposition and nothing more.
Phew, Thank fuck for that. I was getting very nervous for a second there.
Whatever happens next, this was a good fucking thing to wake up to.
Corbyn cements himself as a viable politician, at long last bringing policies that benefit normal people right into the limelight- while the arrogant self-serving cunts in the Tory party get to Eat shit as their usless PM scores the most hilarious own goal ive ever seen.
Perhaps this timeline isn't so fucked after all.

We're about to see a massive surge for Corbyn as the PLP and the public rally towards him.
Reading about the DUP's policies... Wtf Irish people??
May just got described by the rest of her cohort as a (temporary) caretaker rather than a prime minister.
bloody hell
Is this pretty much the best case scenario?
Given the circumstances, yes. Labour come up smelling of roses while the weak and wobbly Tories fuck it all up in the spotlight. All the while both the extreme left and extreme right struggle to get anything silly done.
