I'm pretty disappointed in Scotland right now. Absolutely no idea why so many constituencies voted tory, boggles my mind.
the reason for this is the split vote between SNP and Labour.
Context on that guy in black knight armor thing?
I feel so sorry for Nick Clegg :( If anyone had any sense they'd hire him for Brexit negotiations.
Context on that guy in black knight armor thing?
Its quite common to have cynical independent candidates
I feel so sorry for Nick Clegg :( If anyone had any sense they'd hire him for Brexit negotiations.
to be honest, i'd think that the left wing is glad to see the back of clegg at his best, he's a man that tried to do the best for his party and reduce the impact of a conservative government at his worst, he's a traitor to the left wing who utterly annihilated the credibility of the lib dems, and squandered an opportunity to fight the conservatives in a power grab to me, I think it's a mix of the two, but I think him losing his seat is the result of a poor decision he made in 2010, which he has only now finished paying for it's sad, but you reap what you sew
Does anyone have a rundown of DUP policies? I'm trying to read into them but their site is down due to traffic :v:
I feel so sorry for Nick Clegg :( If anyone had any sense they'd hire him for Brexit negotiations.
"We will ensure tariff free access to the single market" 1 year later "We have left the single market and will pay double tariffs on everything" I jest. Poor guy in 2010 he was such a bright optimistic figure, politics chewed him up and shat him out a broken man who can't keep his own constituency. The worst thing was that interview where he was talking about his kid asking him "why does everyone hate you dad?". I hope he's strong enough to cope with all that shit
the reason for this is the split vote between SNP and Labour.
Pretty much, the left divided itself again so the right sneaks in.

Fptp strikes again. But from the sounds of it, it's far from a done deal.

Or maybe it's because the Tories are willing to fuck their principles into the dirt for power?

Liberals went for the Student vote, got it, used it to get into power with the Tories and then shit all over the students. Of all their policies they had to stand firm on, Tuition fee's was the main one they HAD to stick with. the moment they ceeded the party was terminal. Now he's gone, the party 'might' really start to recover, but lets just say if you are a student who got fucked by that election, or you were someone that missed out on being a student, might not be so forgiving when you get old.
Ironically, the Tory/ukip/other vote to lab/SNP/LD/Green is 48/52, but this time it's all about the 48% :hammered:

Virtue signalling exists on both sides of the fence it seems.

Lmao. Yeah okay dude. That's a fantastic way of twisting blame there. Let's just ignore the fact the Tories only buddied up with DUP because they are power hungry lunatics.

fuck the labour party should have campaigned less hard so that the conservatives didn't lose quite as much, and didn't have to partner with homophobes

That guy should feel bad about making a tweet that is legitimately that unforgivably stupid I'm sorry but that tweet is brain dead mush at best

...in exchange for only needing to convince four or five tory MPs to change sides in the Commons to kill any right-wing legislature we have to? even a pessimist would admit that's a workable tradeoff for the DUP gaining power.
Or maybe it's because the Tories are willing to fuck their principles into the dirt for power?
Even John Major didn't get in bed with the DUP to prop up his weak government, and for good reason. May is basically willing to fuck Ireland's stability for her own personal gain. What a strong and stable Prime Minister.
[sp]im gonna be the dumbass but is this a good thing or a bad thing that liberty got that amount of seats? i just got here so no bully[/sp]

Lmao do these people have even a shred of self awareness? "The party I like is on the fucking ropes so they went and buddies up with a group of despicable bigots. These actions, undertaken by the party I like, are the other side's fault for fucking our majority so badly!" Get a fucking grip mate.

Is this tweet about Britain or America?
So as someone with a limited understand of UK politics, how much power do the DUP have with only 10 seats? Do Tories basically have to give DUP what they want so that the Tories can push through their own legislation and be sure DUP support gives them a majority?

Guys I think you're all missing the point of what he's trying to say. Pretty sure he's highlighting how terrible our system is that such a thing can happen.

So I doubt we will see that much legislation from them. If it was 20 seats, it would be another thing.

If the government does something the DUP disagrees with they can just ask the PM to eat shit and nothing gets done.
If you ask me, this sounds like a decent result then. Not as good as ending up with Corbyn, but a weakening of the Tory position. Would have been nicer if May fucked off though.

friendly reminder that if 3 DUP or Tory MP's resign or aren't present for a vote, that it will swing the Commons into chaos It's happening in Australia with the ruling party having power on a knife edge
